Hopefully Manga will have nothing to do with the dvds apart from having their sticker on the box.

I wonder what free stuff will come??

I'd give anything for some new Shirow artwork. maybe a pencil board?

Bandai made some wicked boxes for some of the .hack//SIGN releases. One thing is that the Bandai boxes tend to be quite limited, they're more marketing gimick than extra revenue. So when they get announced, reserve yours quickly.

Witch Hunter Robin, had a lovely looking (solid) box, with a t-shirt, shot glass, 2 cellish pencil board, and the soundtrack.

Infinite Ryvius had a not bad looking box, a plushie weasel, and 3-4 postcards I think.

Wolf's Rain is according to the poll on Bandai's site a plushie.

I want a Kusanagi plushie Razz

Well I'm glad to finally get a release date. It's still quite a ways off though, but at least we know when it's comming out. I can finally free up a little space on my harddrive soon.

It would be nice if Bandai/Manga gets the first season out on six disk like Cowboy Bebop instead of eight.

I'm not holding my breath on that to happen though.

According to AOD the disc releases will be handled eniterly by Manga, which means: no box, no freebies, and rubbish discs.

Great Bandai, thanks. Rolling Eyes

Bandai Entertainment Clarifies Further (07:00 PM EST): Providing a different look at what's going on with the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series here in North America compared to what we heard from Manga UK yesterday, Charles McCarter of Bandai Entertainment posted this today:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We would like to clarify this issue and prevent any further rumors or speculation from spreading about the release of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
Bandai Entertainment will be handling the English adaptation and DVD authoring for the North American release of Ghost in the Shell; we have been working on this for some time already.

Bandai Entertainment will also be coordinating the marketing activities for this title. Manga Entertainment will be handling the distribution for this title in North America. (This is similar to the distribution arrangement we had with Pioneer in the past, but is only for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.) Manga Entertainment will also be handling DVD distribution worldwide, with the exceptions of Asia and France.

We hope that this explanation will put the rumors to rest. We know that the fans are looking forward to seeing this title released, and we are grateful for your enthusiasm and support.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That makes it sound like all Manga will do is just manufacture the disc and Bandai will be in control of what's on the disc. Neutral

DVD Authoring can be both deciding what goes on it along with setting the masters up at a production facility. hopefully bandai will do that instead of let manga use the master discs as frisbees.

I rather liked the r1 (or is that r2) dvd artwork. although there is more of it because there are less eps per disc it'd be interesting to see what bandai does with it.

I think the PR is trying to say that Bandai will be making the discs, and Manga will be distributing them. Manga may be one of the worst companies out there, but you have to admire them for being able to distributed over 100,000 copies without breaking a nail.

I guess this means that GitS will actually be available in Canada in good quantities for a decent price on the release date.

Yeah, the fact that I can get most Manga DVDs in Montreal for only about $28 Canadian (including the 15% combined sales tax we pay in Quebec) pretty much anywhere that sells videos (including places that don't otherwise carry much in the way of anime) almost makes me wish that I gave a damn about Ghost in the Shell.
