Forgive me if this has been discussed, but does anyone know what's going on here? For the foreseeable future One Piece is off Toonami, replaced with Bakugan. Have they all ready run out of episodes? As of April 5th it's still off the schedule. Too bad, the story was going good too.

Well, at least Blue Dragon starts next week.

We actually did discuss this quite a bit over in this thread, starting from a little bit down on that page. I don't think anyone knows for sure exactly why they decided to pull it (at least for now anyways, as far as we know) but there's definitely a lot of speculation to it, as you can see from the link.

CorneredAngel reported from the Funi panel at Anime Boston:

Mentioned briefly at the very end: CN is just moving things around their schedule. It's not a formal hiatus or anything.

Usually when CN "moves things around the schedule" it's not for the best. Other shows that were moved around include Gundam Seed and Yu Yu Hakusho, both of which ended up at 5:30am. Transformers Cybertron got bumped off for 6am. An informal hiatus doesn't really do much to comfort me.

So what? One Piece isn't building enough of a fanbase or they just haven't dubbed enough episodes yet?

The latter. Funi was put into the rather awkward situation of having to essentially work on three separate dub projects for the same series simultaneously (and maybe four, depending on how long the movie took): the Toonami broadcast version with edited dialogue, the unedited versions of the same episodes, and the re-dubbing from the start of the series (which might also require edited dialogue if CN was planning on swapping out the 4Kids episodes down the line). That's a very tall order even in the best of circumstances; the fact that the Toonami episodes have been dubbed as well as they were is almost amazing. This break gives them a much-needed chance to get the episodes for the DVD releases rolling and get ahead of the TV broadcast. From what more veteran fans have told me, though, they're going to run into a pickle at some point, because one or two of the arcs that 4Kids "excised" from the series are utterly crucial to events that happen some time down the road from where the dub left off. The wishful-thinking part of me envisions the show starting over at the beginning of the series with Funi's dub, but that presents logistical problems in and of itself.

They just cut it off in the best parts, i mean skypia, even my friend who says its okay was mad. Evil or Very Mad Toonami is losing there viewers if they could keep this up. I mean Mar and The prince of tennis, awesome series. and then tonnamijetream.com with taking off the prince of tennis and only showing mini-episodes of eyeshield 21 without telling us. Twisted Evil Whats next? Naruto. I mean they replaced to show re-runs of a new series that shows saturday morning. not that its bad but come on one piece. Rolling Eyes Taking off two hours for goosebumps which they showed during christmas!! Evil or Very Mad They are taking valuble anime time off of the air. Anime cry

While I'm sure they are under a lot of stress by doing so many dubs for One Piece at once (edited and unedited shouldn't really have that much of an effect since they're only redoing a few lines not the entire track), if what Bellos posted is true then it's Cartoon Networks fault for the lack of episodes and not a time strain.

Besides, if Naruto can go 160+ episodes (according to the TV release schedule here), plus a movie (or two?), specials, and tons of games without a single catch-up break, FUNi should be able to do a little better than 24 episodes.

(EDIT: ...and as I type this the big news from Cartoon Network appears on the front page. Figures.)
