I think "most of" is a bit of an exaggeration.
Due to the Video Recordings Act it is only legal to sell videos in the UK if rated (and passed) by the BBFC. If it has been rejected. For a good recent example of the reasons for rejecting a title see the uncut Human Centipede 2). Regarding possession for personal use the BBFC says: "Although it is not a Customs offence to import an unclassified video or DVD, it must be for your personal use only and the content must not breach the prohibition on the importation of indecent and obscene material which reflects other UK laws (eg the Obscene Publications Acts 1959 and 1964, the Protection of Children Act 1978). You are therefore entitled to purchase unclassified videos/DVDs whilst abroad, provided they contain no illegal material and are solely for personal use." As far as I can tell is it no illegal to possess material that contravenes the OPA, but it is if it falls foul of the Protection of Children Act (which "makes it illegal to make, distribute, show or possess ‘indecent’ photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child") or the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act (which "makes the possession of an ‘extreme pornographic’ image a criminal offence"). The only Hentai available in the UK is rated 18 or cut so that it is; R18-rated titles can only be sold in licensed sex shops and there just isn't a big enough market. There was talk a couple of years back of a company releasing R18 hentai but I don't think anything ever came of it (and even then there are still a lot of restrictions). As someone who knows his 2D erotica i would say it's pretty damned accurate. And on a personal note i think it's absolutely vile that something that happens in pure 2Dfiction is illegal. |

Didn't the Coroner And Justice Act 2009 toughen up the rules prohibiting even possession of anything remotely H-loli in any way, shape, or form whether for own personal consumption, or no.?

"most of" is the same as "not all" and just to add if you go on the British definition of loli that would be anyone under 18 so that would cover a good 95% of ero out there. as for the remaining 5% a good 4.9% would be deemed to Violent for the UK market. |

If you're going by the age of consent, then anything with characters aged 16+ is acceptable, as opposed to 18+.

Well they don't use the age of consent in the adult entertainment industry. I'm sure we've all seen some of the news headlines of guys getting sent down for the creation and possession of child porn cause they took some kinky shots of their then 17 y/o girl friends. |

Sorry, I thought you said "most of it is loli" you were using the regular definition.
I don't know what percentage of hentai contains minors, however everything released in the US specifically states that all characters are over 18 (some just happen to be wearing school uniforms). Same with MangaGamer's games. |
