So CR started showing Familiar of Zero F and I am finding myself quite annoyed.
Years ago I got the first season DVD collection and liked it pretty well -- looking forward to seeing the following seasons. However they never seemed to come to R1 even though I was willing to wait. Now F is here, which going by the encyclopedia is the FOURTH season. As far as I could tell the only way I could watch the other seasons is to go to Japan or download an illegal copy somewhere (I wouldn't know where to look unless it is on google.) The ANN encyclopedia doesn't give much hope. So is my only choice to watch the seasons out of order? Can anyone familiar (no pun) with the series say whether it is worth watching this away? I read your post a few times and I'm still not quite sure, but...all 4 seasons doesn't play with the story's chronology like Haruhi does. Start from season 1, then 2, then 3, then 4. They're in chronological order.
Unfortunately, season 3 is kinda weak. Anyways, as for my impressions for the 1st episode of S4.... Pro: It's what I expected from it. It's better than Season 3. Louise and Saito's relationship seems to be a bit more mature than in earlier seasons. Con: Doesn't look like this season will delve deeper on the fact that Saito is a non-European from OUR world, a much more technologically advance world. Just the very fact that he's from a completely different world should provide some pretty decent drama. But not only that, but he's the exact opposite race as everyone else, I expected all the other characters to freak out a bit more at just his appearance. |

The biggest problems with not watching the previous seasons is the truth about Charlotte, Colbert's past, the introductions of Tifania and Julio. Actually a lot of things will not make sense unless you know what hapened in seasons 2 and 3.

If you have not watched season two and three, I wouldn’t recommend jumping into season four. If you are not opposed to watching fansubs, there are a few places where you can find season two and three on-line. While there is certainly a chance that if this season of Zero no Tsukaima receives great numbers on Crunchyroll that another R1 company might take a chance on releasing/rereleasing the rest of the series, but at the moment I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Good luck and do not hesitate to ask if you have any more questions. |

Seeing the seasons in order is a must. Lots of development between S1 and S4. I recently rewatched S1-S3, so it's pretty fresh in my mind.
Not sure what people think of fansubs on here or what the rules are regarding sharing of sites/trackers, but *discussing bittorrent sites is not allowed* is what I use. Using the filters, you can easily find the other 2 seasons. You'll probably have to look for a complete batch. |

I can't say everyone shouldn't be surprised, but the second season explains that a person (or was it more than one person? I forget) already visited their world. Siesta and her cousin(?) are direct descendants of him. Also, Saito was summoned as familiar...just so happened to be a humanoid instead of a creature (assuming the familiars that are summoned don't come from the world the show is in). So, Saito looks similar enough, that maybe some people thought "he looks bizarre," but don't give it a second though? Or, the fact that he is a summoned familiar doesn't surprise people since they are supposed to creatures or monsters? I pulling strings here at this point. |

Gonna revive this just to ask this one question...
Didn't Saito and Louise already get married at the end of a previous season? How come everyone's(okay, mostly Louise's sister in ep.5) acting like they aren't married yet? Also, so far, while a bit uneventful, this season is still far better than Season 3. |

I remember they did that flower thing, and they said something about it being like a mariage, perhaps it was not exactly official, like it would have required a priest or something. Regardless they should have made it official, but I guess Louise will probably want her family involved, they also haven't brought up that Louise actually gave up her family name for a bit.
Saito spoiler[owning land] is cool, as was him telling Louise how much she means to him, but I would really hope that this far in Saito would try harder not to end up in situations where he is cheating. |

I don't know that I'd call it uneventful, exactly. More like they're just burning through material quickly to get to the end. I don't read the light novels, but I got the feeling the first three episodes would have been most of the plot of an ordinary season. I kind of hated this show after Season 3 so I'm surprised to find myself enjoying this season for the most part.
True, although for that matter it's gotten to the point where all these other girls look really desperate and pathetic to still be throwing themselves at him when they know he's in a serious relationship. Siesta especially...gah. I still remember when she was an actual character and not just a roaming set of boobs that exists for the sole purpose of making sure Saito and Louise never get any. |

Saito has to man up and let all the girls know they will just have to learn to share. It looks like Queenie would be on board with that already. Or toss all the others over the horizon. One or the other. This wishy-washy schtick gets old. |

I need to mention this just incase, it appears that the American version of Zero no Tsukaima is only the first season, but what I heard, they aren't going to work on the rest. Mind you, for now its kinda true, cause the other Seasons been out for more then 2 years(i think)?

Send me a PM if you need assistance finding a good version of the prior seasons.
I've been watching 2 and 3 to catch up, I watched the 1st season's English dub (which was mostly good), but I prefer the Japanese after watching the 2nd and 3rd. I would still like a dub if they had one since I'll rewatch for them if they are good, but with this series we aren't going to see that since the sales were low. I'll buy sub-only for sure if they make a decent release (and eventually even if not, but not as a priority). Unfortunately it's Sentai and they don't make particularly interesting products. They provide no extras generally. If it's released by NISA I don't feel so bad about the sub-only aspect since they usually include quite a bit. Sadly I haven't really cared for the shows they've been picking lately. |

Wow, so Saito is both Louise and Tiffania's familiar now. I wonder what new powers he has, because each of the Void mages have different powers, so their familiars probably do too. And sweet, Tabitha's going to be Queen =)
It was either in season 1 or 2 (can't remember) where Saito and Louise encountered a goddess who was trying to flood the entire world so she could take back a ring that had been stolen from her. Saito promised to get her ring back if she didn't flood the world, and because he is the Gandalfr the goddess agreed. At first I thought the ring was Tabitha's ring that was stolen, then I thought it might have been Tiffa's ring but I guess it wasn't that either. This is one plot point I hope they wrap up, since it's the last season. |

From the way things are going it better be superhuman stamina or invincible celibacy. |

Huh, I was kinda hoping that jet would be a plot point of some sort, and not just...outright abandoned. My favourite parts of ZnT have always been the bits where hints of Saito's world is revealed.
And while Saito is pretty much content with staying in this world with Louise now, you would think he'd atleast feel SOME form of homesickness that would provide a little bit of drama. I mean, he's still trapped in a world without basic hygiene, television, technologis, his own kind, and for someone his age and personality, being deprived of internet pornography must not be pleasant. |
