O.K. Thats nice, but I want to see Turn A Gundam. At this rate, I will be collecting my pension before it is released in the states. Yea, I know that I maybe the only Turn A Gundam fan out there. Right? I'm like a bad penny!

Makes you wonder about the credibility of some of our posters...yeah.
Well anyway, I can't wait for this to come out. Does anyone know how many DVDs were made for the Japanese release? I'd like to know how much shelf space this'll probably take up.

I'm guessing it'll probably end up being ten volumes total. Gundam Wing & Mobile Suit Gundam both went ten volumes, and each was close to fifty episodes. With Zeta (and SEED for that matter) coming in at exactly fifty episodes, to put them on ten discs would make a nice, clean five eps/disc straight through.

I haven't seen or hardly read that many Gundam series. I'm still a fan of it though and Zeta looks good, I just hope its better than Wing Gundam even though I liked WG.

It's highly advised that you somehow see the original Mobile Suit Gundam all the way through before seeing Zeta. What with Zeta being a direct sequel to the original & all, it'll make a lot more sense that way.

Well if memory serves it's like 49-50 episodes.
I assume that makes it 10-14 DVDs, depending on if they do dual layering and extra nice mastering (which i hope they do for such a classic).
I recently got the Ideon series on DVD and it's got me all nostalgic for the "Kill em all" era of Tomino again.

I think the boxset is going to retail for about $200 or less. But if Bandai includes some new inserts it might be more.

Would the movie trilogy work? I don't have a whole lot of money, and I really don't want to buy all of those dub only DVDs. If Zeta is coming out in September, then I've got plenty of time to save.
Also, I wonder if they'll put SEED out in a box set. Probably not since it's airing on CN. Oh well, I'm sure it'll probably be a year or so till that (the box set) comes out. I listened to the OPs and EDs this past weekend. I like them a lot, and hope the show is as good. Anyway, that's all I've got for now.

Watching the compilation movies ought to do nicely. Obviously some events are more truncated and have a bit less of an emotional impact than they do in the show, but the main theme and point of the whole first series is actually brought out a lot better in the movies (that is to say, the emergence of newtypes and the evolution of humanity). Because of that, the movies might actually make a better introduction to Zeta than the series (although the series is of course wonderful and should be seen eventually).
((first post, btw, so hi everyone))

I'm actually saving up for the movie trilogy set. It's pretty cheap at Anime Castle, only $55.98 if any one was planning on buying it. Deep Discount DVD has it for $41.99 but I'm still not that sure about buying from that site. Seems like they sell things at too good to be true, without being as low as bootlegs, prices.

Actually, Deep Discount DVD is where I got mine. They DON'T sell bootlegs and everything is LEGIT. If you order something with free shipping though, it can take about 2-3 weeks to get something. I think Priority takes about a week.
The thing is when you order something, it sometimes takes them a few days to respond to your order. Then, after they acknowledge your purchase do they start the shipping process, along with e-mailing the approximate delivery date.
The slow shipping seems to be about the only problem. But aside from that, I think saving that much money is well worth the wait. I suggest you go for the Movie Trilogy with them.
