Anime DVDs are usually $30.00 for about 3 episodes,
when you compare that to American Animation or any live action show, they run about $35.00 for 25 episodes. Don't you think that Anime DVDs are overpriced? |

It's a necessary evil. The anime video market in the US is still very, very small; even big sellers are ultimately miniscule compared to the average mainstream release, not to mention an anime series has more expenses tied to it than something like Family Guy. If ADV or Geneon or Viz were to release entire twenty-six episode series in one $35 box, they'd go bankrupt. Those series wouldn't sell enough to cover the costs of licensing, dubbing, packaging, translating, subtitling, etc.
On the bright side however, the growing popularity of anime is slowly lowering the price. VHS tapes used to sell as two episodes for $30. When DVDs first came out, a twenty-six episode series was stretched over eight volumes while a thirteen episode series was over four. Lately those same series are going over six to seven or three volumes respectively, because the growing popularity of anime (and the growing profit coming into those companies) is allowing them to release more series at lower prices. It looks bad compared to mainstream releases, but it is improving, no mistake about it. |

What Nagi has said is completely true, so I won't bother crafting a reply that sounds like a copy of his.
I would like to say that I haven't paid $30 for 3 eps in quite some time. Of course, prices vary depending on which company you are talking about, but I generally pay $20 for 5 eps. |

If you want to pay less than $30 for anime DVD's go search online for them. Use www.pricegrabber.com as well as http://www.dvdaficionado.com to find places on the cheap.
Places like www.deepdiscountdvd.com and www.overstock.com sell anime DVD's for $25 or less. Example: DeepDiscountDVD sells Geneon for $22.31 a DVD. They sell ADV and Funimation for $17.99 a DVD for the most part and Bandai, particularly Ghost in the Shell, for $14.99 a DVD |

Obviously, don't ever post links with store.yahoo in them since more than likely they are a known bootlegger. |

Yes, I did that once. Evading the censor gets you banned for a week.

It's simple to fix... simply edit your post and take out the banned link, and the post in which you evaded the censor by naming the site. |
