Okay can someone explain what happened here? I have watched this series, own the imported DVD set (12eps), its NOT finished. I did however get my hands on the OAV fansub which backstories the first candidates and their relationship. I remember the fansub for Candidate came out around the time S1 Vandread.
Is there a manga that explains the rest of this? What happend here? Its like the story was totally abandoned. I've seen this happen to others before but say it aint so for this one.

I agree. Hopefully the manga is a nice, completed story.
I think the anime was dropped because of lack of interest. Supposedly, it's too similar to "this and that", which make it another ripoff, and therefore uninteresting/bad. *shrugs* I haven't seen the show(s) they say it's a ripoff of and don't really know what they're talking about. I like the show. |

The manga is only 5 volumes long and I think it may be incompleted. I do hope it is complete though I wanna know what the victim are and what is on Zion.

Unbelievable, the manga only 5 vols. that sux. I recall reading one review on it that started rip on the fact that they used some well known and familiar music as the intro theme, and I just read a german review that said the series borrows heavily off of Neon Genesis. (url shortened -c) Hm, they also mentioned that besides the main character and his rival there is a lack of character depth. I have to disagree with that. They were able to tell a story and input enough of the other characters into the flow as possible. Another review says the artist on the candidate series also did D.N. Angel. I dont know what the D. N. stands for but maybe I will look into this when I find out. Even my favorite anime review site had nay sayers on this. However the majority of them say there was no ending which bothered them. I would say to this that The plot WAS indeed there but after 13 eps there wasn't a clear view on who their enemy was or why they attacked. Thats very bad and in most anime is usually detailed after about 5 eps. The clever writers keep the drive with the mystery of "where" the plot is going after its defined. I'd have to disagree - ever see .hack//sign? That's convoluted up to like ep 12! I did like CfG or PC or whatever you want to call it. I hope the manga does it justice. |

yeah but I did say "most" and I couldnt stand hack sign. It dragged the lift out of you.
