have they been shut down or something? their is site is gone, and their irc chan. has also been shut down.

i wonder if this has to do with all the licensed shows they've been subbing.

heh... would serve 'em right. I can't say I shed any tears for them if that's the case.

The members got fed up with each other and they pretty much agreed it was time to end it. Good riddance, if you ask me, as AnimeJunkies were notorious for damn near garbage fansubs with hideous translations.

They were the worst of the lot, and now they're gone. This calls for celebration.

would that mean that their fansubs of Gundam Seed suck?
if so, what mistakes did they make?

A friend told me that the names are a bit of
e.g.: athran is asuran and that sort of thing
Is this the only thing that is wrong or did they completely mistranslated the entire thing

Animejunkies were notorious for having one translator who put it through Japanese-? Korean -> Englsih, and also having horrid Grammer/spelling, added in with assitance from BabelFish (Mass Naked Child Event)

I'm told they started to get better, and then they broke up.

No use crying over spilt milk I geuss.

The usual issues. People have a big fight and break up, thus starting wars between their new factions. It's just indicative of the immature attitudes that AJ always showed

Reminds me of good old Hecto

It couldn't've had anything to do with the fact that they were subbing Chrno Crusade after ADV licensed it, could it?

It couldn't've had anything to do with the fact that Killshok is a whiny 15 year old brat, could it?

It couldn't've had anything to do with the fact that they were a horrible fansubbing group, could it?

Hm.

IIRC, AJ has done this sort of splitting before, which means they'll probably be back within a few months, doing just as badly a job as they've ever done, continuing to stain what little repute remains with digisubbers.

Well, then again, I do remember that one debate about someone from there sending a immature hate mail to some company (can't remember) for liscensing Ninja Scroll, saying that they were the ones responsible for making it big. That caused a large uproar, but then, I do think I remember that someone from the organization sent a letter of apology to the company, in a much more mature nature.

What am I saying? I'm saying that while the group might have been overall really sucky and bad (can't say from experience, never did get anything from them), there must have been at least one good person there. Hopefully, that person moved away from the group to persue some other group or something else. I'm saying that probably not all of them were scum, just a large majority.

Just trying to be fair from what I heard. ^^;

Actually, the apology letter was sent by the webmaster, who really wasn't involved with the group at all. I'd rather see them shut down permanently, as they were the worst of the lot...

I'll never forget their subbing (it was already licensed too) for GitS: SAC

"mass naked child events"

Funniest bad subbing line I've ever read... Smile

Name changes, for one. But then, nobody except Haro^2 got those right. AJ also just simply did some convoluted, horribly-worded subs. There were many occasions in which I had to pause the show, roll it back, and read the subs again to even get the gist of what was going on.

Oh. I guess I was confused =P.

If any of them have any slight bit of redemption, then good for them. The rest of it can burn. =P...

Of course, I'm not one to really condem those I don't know, so whatever. =P
