I keep trying to get to the home page and the error keeps coming up.
Edit: I also get this when I try to click subscription under My ANN Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. |

That happens to me sometimes (though not the subscription error you're reporting). Typically this does not occur once I close my Internet browser and try back in about 1-3 minutes tops.

I'm getting this, too, and have been for the past two or three days. I just assumed the site was down, but when a friend mentioned that he was able to see the news, I tried to figure out what was going on.
It only happens if I'm logged in. I cleared my cookies and everything was fine, but as soon as I logged in again, the error reappeared. It does not go away if I close and restart my browser. It does not seem to be affecting the forums, but everything else on the site is affected. Kep |

Do you get the problem only on fast.ann.com or also on www?

Dan's working on it. The problem only occurred this morning, and we're not quite sure what the cause is. Dan's work day just started (he lives in Japan), so I'm sure it'll be fixed pretty soon.

I just had the above mentioned problems no more then 10 minutes ago. The time would've been about 8:15-8:20 Eastern US time. It happened first on the fast serve, my default bookmark, and theregular when I typed it in.

Finally fixed. It was only a small bug that occurs when a subscription expires; normally I would get an error mail with detailed diagnostic information, but for some unknown reason in this case the page-generating process just died a sudden death with no diagnostic info. :-/

I thought that was it because I knew mine was ending soon and I was still recieving my subscription but I couldn't check to see when it ended. Thank you for fixing the problem. |

Ah, interesting. That would certainly explain why it was happening for two days for me, since my subscription ended on the 12th. Thanks very much for looking into it.
I thought the subscription was automatically charged each month until canceled, however? Kep |

At the bottom of the subscription page it says how long is left on your subscription.
Paypal offers the option to do that, however I dislike the practice. Having worked in the mobile internet industry, subscriptions are a common "sneak" practice because often people will subscribe to a service and forget to unsubscribe; that way you get recurring revenue by default but I hate dirty tricks like that. Not to mention that with credit cards we could get chargebacks if people are surprised by a renewal charge for a service they had subscribed to a year before and forgot. |

Honestly, I don't particularly care for that subscription feature of Paypal either for the same reasons. When I paid for the subscription before though, it made it seem like that would be the case, hence the question.
It's all good now, though! Well, not entirely -- Tried three times to buy another month. First time, the Paypal page stalled on a blank page and never made it to the "you made a payment" result. Went to bed, figuring it may just be delayed, but there was no payment notice from Paypal. So I tried it a second time just a few moments ago and got the Internal Server Error, but this time for Paypal's site (even though Paypal was working fine in another tab). On the third try, the payment went through properly. So... looks like there may yet be some tweaks needed on the Paypal integration. Kep |
