Nice. And it's authorized by Japanese lyricists? Because, you know, I'd never want to use one of those HIGHLY ILLEGAL copyright-infringing pirate listings like AnimeLyrics or whatever.

Now I can LEGALLY understand what people are singing! Amazing!

Wow. So does this bit of news imply that the creators of Japan frown upon fans translating the lyrics to their songs and posting them on the web? I can understand the fansub issue, but lyrics too? I'm honestly not sure what to think of this.

Yes, yes YES!!!

Sorry, but as a translator of anime lyrics, this just made my day. It can be so difficult to find kanji lyrics.

Not that I'll ever understand Japan's problem with posting lyrics on the internet. Sure, people can take copyrighted anime characters and draw all sorts of horrible doujinshi and sell them for profit, but posting lyrics on free sites? That's a no-no.

I agree with you there. I own a lot of import anime OST's, maxi singles, as well as albums from my favorite japanese music artist (CD Japan must love me) and sometimes it's really difficult to find the translated lyrics for many of the albums I have.

This was sarcasm, right? If it was, it gave me good laugh. Nice one.

There is the minor complaint that the lyrics are in Flash, so you can't copy and paste them into a translator to see them in English. But then, it wasn't made for the English language I suppose. It'd be nice to see an English version though.

That's a pain. But then, that's what a lot of those sites do. I'd prefer they not do it, because it's much easier for me to just copy and paste a kanji into an online dictionary if I need the meaning rather than looking it up by stroke or radicals, but I suppose I can't complain since there's just an official site period. I usually use http://www.jtw.zaq.ne.jp/animesong/index.html, but their lyrics can be inaccurate at times, which is a translation nightmare.

Both are frowned upon, but no one takes action for anything >_>; I just don't like the attitude.

This site will be amazingly helpful, considering my side hobby of transliterating song lyrics.

I still think sites like AnimeLyrics are really useful (though I've got issues and was a big fan of animelyrics.tv and can't bring myself to submit to animelyrics.com), considering you can't copy these lyrics and still have to do the old fashioned looking up kanji... But this'll help me since I have some booklets where the kanji is just too hard to read when I want to write up a song.

The selection seems pretty good so far. I was content with a few searches I just tried. Smile

I am not sure of understanding this. I mean, there are other JASRAC-authorized lyrics web with anime songs (i.e. utamap) Anikashi maybe the only "anime-oriented" web, but there are others.

Michi: It's not pretty, but I have managed to extract the text of a song using my old copy of Eltima Flash Decompiler is there's anything where you're having problems decoding the kanji.
