To be honest, I am very disappointed that they licensed this. This show is really... low quality. The art style isn't very good, and the art itself is vastly inconsistent from shot to shot (think Soul Link), with some shots looking like the animator had no idea of proportions, not to mention the fact that they even spelled the person's name on the uniform two different ways within minutes of each other. The only positive thing I can say about the art is that at least the mecha animation looked okay and interesting to watch. The art is definitely not OVA quality, and many TV shows have better animation than this.

Beyond the art, the story was really watered down from the original story, with random gratuitous violence thrown in. I guess there wasn't much you could do with a 4-episode budget, but this just felt thrown together. The original plot really needed something like a 39 episode series to properly fit, and even then it's not entirely possible to adapt this story correclty, as one of the features of the story telling was that you get to see the story unfold from various different viewpoints in the game.

Furthermore, they didn't even manage to get the voices from the PS2 game and ended up with some random newcomers.

These are the reasons why I felt the show was such a let down and why I only have the first volume of the R2 on my shelf instead of the entire set.

I don't know anything about this show other than the description listed here and on its page, But for some haunting reason I feel like this is kin to Spiral.
*shudders*

I can imagine this is going to be a fairly cheap, one-shot DVD release. Since I never played the game, it was a pretty decent OVA title in a mindless entertainment sort-of way (especially with a bunch of Matrix/Ghost in the Shell like imagery).

Of course you can't go wrong with KOTOKO doing the OP song! Surprised

The famous Face of Fact/undelete OP/ED pair show? Licensed? Good news, and I'll probably buy the whole thing since it's pretty short.

Funimation public relations manager Jackie Smith reports that the company has also licensed the BALDR FORCE EXE Resolution cyberwar video series in addition to the two titles (Ouran High School Host Club and Sasami: Magical Girl Club) which were announced onsite at Otakon 2007.

No. I did not. This news thread mentioned this anime, so I'm responding to this thread. I believe the admins/mods have yet to edit the title of this news thread.

Could have responded here, but meh whatever. In any case, I'm getting this title for the heck of it just for sheer amusement.

Meh ... you shouldn't have wasted your money on this one, FUNimation. This OVA is so bad, it isn't even funny.

I thought the BALDR anime was OK actually. Hasn't left me with any lasting memories of standout moments or anything, but it was certaintly at least watcheable.
