Not, surprising considering I hear Lucky Star fans in Japan actually go out of their way to buy multiple copies of Lucky Star media to manipulate the sales charts. I guess that's part of being a super fan.....or a sucker.

Seems that Japan Otaku buy all their anime the first week they are out, and nobody else buys them after that. The exception seems to be titles with mainstream appeal like Ghibli.

Code Geass fans do that too. And Kanon fans. And Gurren Lagann fans as well.

In the case of Lucky Star, the sudden drop in the charts might be because the DVD sold out during the first week.

Buying multiple copies just for the sake of the sales charts? That's retarded and it sounds like a rumor by people who dislike said shows. Is there any proof of this somewhere?

Should have clarified in my first post.
Rather than chart manipulation, it would be hardcore fanboyism; buying, let's say two copies of something, one to watch and one to keep unopened.
I know a few friends who do this and I declare myself guilty of such practices too .

Okay, I can see that happening. Lucky Star even mentions this on several occasions, so it probably is fairly common.
