I have seen a lot of anime, and I have to say that kodocha is one of the best. But unfortunately I have heard that the series is cutting its airtime short. Kodocha is a 102 episode series, but is only going to make it to episode 51. I cant believe, how such a magnificent anime, is going to be killed off. People just aren’t watching the anime, and I don’t understand why. I am positive that if anime watchers would give kodocha a chance, that they too, could see just how great of a series Kodocha really is. So here I am, on a mission to spread the kodocha name, I just hope I can convince people to watch the show. I really hope that I can make a difference. Please. Please! Turn the channel to Colors TV and watch this series. You won’t be disappointed. Kodocha has an abundance of comedy, romance, and even a dash of drama. Trust me, it’s a must see.

I love Kodocha as well and it will be really a shame if Funi decided to not release the rest of the episodes, I think Funi should also try to get this on Cartoon network since the English version is highly edited and the channel could use a shoujo dose.

Yeah... it's a big let down. I started watching it recently and it's so funny. I'd hate not to be able to see the rest.

They may have tried, but this just isn't the kind of show that Cartoon Network would show.

It is a great series. I find it rather amazing that they made a 102 episode series out of a 6 volume manga, and the whole thing is worth watching (well, maybe the first couple New York episodes could've been dropped). It's a high purchasing priority for me, once I find more storage space in my closet.

I'm pretty sad about Funimation not finishing it too. I've seen about 25 or 26 episodes on Colours TV, and I have the first box set. It really is a great anime, and I think fans of Fruits Basket would especially enjoy it. I probably would've bought the individual volumes if I knew Funimation had not licensed the entire series.
Sadly, I don't think we can convince them to get the second half of the series. But maybe Right Stuf can release it sub-only? (It would still suck to not have the great dub, but it'd be much better than nothing.) That's what happened with Super GALS!. Of course, Kodocha is about twice as long. So I guess we can't really count on that, but we can hope.
Also, I think there will be some people who won't buy it now even if they want to see it because it's unfinished. I think it's still worth getting even if you can't see it all though.

The fact that it is rather old probably doesn't help much either.. And what is so highly edited out of the English version? I don't think I ever heard of it being edited.

Like what Funi did with DBZ and YYH, the dialogues had been severely edited that made the English version almost G-rated and very kiddy friendly, for example in the English version they changed Rei from being Sana's ""pimp" into just her "boyfriend".

I'm sorry, but I have an almost to completely unshakeable dislike of Akitaro Daichi's directing, if this person directed something, I'm very unlikely to see it.

I would have to agree, if not directly said so far, that Kodocha is one of the most UNDERRATED series out there. It has quickly become one of my favorite shows and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The funny thing is, when Sana has her hair down, she looks just like one of my webcomic characters even though I created the character a year before I first watched the show. Weird, huh? I'll show you what I mean later on if I get the chance. Anyway, I've only seen the first 35 dubbed episodes and episode 18 and about half of episode 27 subbed. It really is disappointing that FUNimation won't finish what they started because Kodocha is just a great series. Ironically, with the One Piece dub, they're picking up where 4Kids left off by dubbing season 3. Who knows? Maybe one day, FUNimation will finish the dub or possibly Viz could redub it and get all 102 episodes in. I could easily picture Stephanie Sheh voicing Sana or Johnny Yong Bosch being a bad-ass Akito but that's just me. One more thing, the Kodocha manga was actually 10 volumes.

Well, you could actually make a purchase if you really want to get their attention. Crazy suggestion, I know, but it seems to work in every other industry. As for me, well, I'm not betting on any more episodes coming out. Most of what I enjoy (including the wonderful Kodocha series) seems to get a surprisingly good reception online but almost nobody ever seems to actually buy any of it. I wonder how that could be possible. >_>

In the English version, they did use the word "pimp" on a few occasions to describe Sana's relationship with Rei and Misako asked Sana if she knew what pimp meant. And in, I think, episode 17, Misako mentions writing a book called "My Gigolo and I". I heard this with my own ears.

I watched the episode -I belive the first or the second one- dubbed and I remember Sana telling the hair stylist that Rei was her boyfriend while the subtitles read "pimp", I haven't seen the rest of the episodes dubbed so I don't know if Funi changed their minds about using a less severe word to describe Sana's relationship with Rei as the former sees it.

I can say with some confidence that a handful of off-color remarks is not what doomed this excellent show's full release. Funi's own comments seem to imply this series was simply not a good seller stateside. So, unless most potential fans were immediately sickened and repulsed by a couple loli-ish remarks that had no obvious connection to anything actually occurring in the series, I would have to say this is nothing but a red herring. Damn shame too. We seem to get release after release of shows like DBZzz while fresh and catchy comedies languish in the bargain bin.

Yeah, I know what you mean, daxomni. They're releasing two of the DBZ movies in HD-DVD and I think Blu-ray as well. I'm trying to collect all of the DVD boxsets which will replace the VHS tapes that I wasted over $100 on a few years back. I bought them because I didn't have a DVD player back then(2002-03).
What really makes me scratch my head is that FUNimation picked up the second season of Negima! and it (from what I read somewhere) was among the lowest-rated anime series in Japan. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome show but FUNi's logic somewhat confuses me there.
But, finally, getting back to the original topic at hand, whatever comments that turned people off from the show really did strike down Kodocha in the prime of its English dub.
