Just found out the first Nuku Nuku OVA is no longer being sold by ADV. Anyone have similar shows they wished they hadn't waited so long to buy?

I would have gotten City Hunter, if I had known the only way to see it all was through the anime, but it was too expensive to get all at once. Patlabor's also becoming more scarce as I wait.

I wish I had started to collect Sailor Moon S either sooner, when the individuals were easily available, or later, when the thinpak came out. But since I started getting individuals, I didn't get the thinpak, and now I get to have fun trying to get the whole set.

Orphen, I had the perfect collection but I don't know what happened to it. I've been meaning to get that but now they stoped with the Perfect Collection sets...

Only Sailor Moon and that was OOP before I started collecting anime. I'll probably pick it up second hand sometime.

I'm paranoid about this. I tend to jump on stuff I like the minute it comes out, for fear that it will vanish before I actually buy it. I'm currently very nervous about Patlabor (the series, as was mentioned) and the last couple of volumes of Princess Tutu that Right Stuf doesn't seem to have. I've managed to find most stuff I've missed on the ebay, but not everything. I'd have to think of what else there is, though.

After recently getting into GitS: SAC, I'm kind of curious to check this out myself being another Shirow work. I have the original OAV series box set and first movie (the super heavyweight edition), but isn't the TV series just a retelling? Could anyone that's seen both give me some quick comparisons and recommend if it's worth getting?

Aren't the CCS Clow Book sets still available then? I know Rightstuff had a clearout of the old singles as I bought to whole set them myself when they were reduced before Christmas.

I'm so glad this topic exists; I so need to vent. I tried ordering the last two installments (volumes 3 and 4) of the Grasshoppa! DVD series last week from YesAsia and thought I succeeded. But a few days after I placed my order I got a an e-mail saying "Sorry, we're out of stock, and won't be getting any new copies." Then I checked cdjapan, where it's listed as out of print. Anime cry I should have just ordered everything at once when I ordered the first two over a year ago, but I didn't want to spend too much money at once... I regret it now. Sad It's way harder to find secondhand R2s than R1s.

I managed to pick up the Sailormoon seasons I and II box sets from rightstuf seventy five percent off, each, just before they quit selling them. Wish I was faster with the other series. I only have my fansubbed VHS tapes of those now, and they're starting to get worn. Sad

Er, Shirow never did any Patlabor works. And yeah, from what I understand having not seen it, the television series is set in its own universe (along with its sequel OVA), seperate from the original OVA series and the three subsequent movies.

On that note, have you checked out the second movie by any chance, Tony? It's something that not a lot of people would take to, and it would take a lot of warming up even for someone who appreciates Oshii's style, but personally I believe it to be the height of the franchise, or at least from what I've seen.

Aw, Cloe, you reminded me that I could've legally gotten Trava from that, with English subtitles to boot... Yeah, that's a real missed chance there.

As for me? Well, there isn't anything in R1 that I don't regret not picking up. I did search for Spring and Chaos for the longest time, and finally picked up a five dollar copy off Half.eBay.com. Turned out to be the remastered edition, which made me giddy as can be. (Really enjoyed the film as well). The only OOP anime here that I want right now is Arcadia of My Youth, and I'm just waiting in the mail for that. I'm basically all set after having gone through practically all of the R1 companies a while back...

R2 is a different matter, though. The aforementioned Grasshoppa! series, particularly the Trava installment is an opportunity I don't think I'll have again. 1001 Nights is apparently also OOP, which sucks major monkey's balls.

Luckily Angel's Egg was re-released in January over in Japan, so I wasn't able to miss out on that one.

Whoops, my bad Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop, I meant to say Oshii (I was thinking take the -ow and Shi-, minus the -r-, then the fact that the movies were directed by Oshii Anime catgrin + sweatdrop)...

Anyway, I've not seen any of Patlabor at all yet (backlogged along with some other stuff). I was just wondering what people's opinions were. But thanks for the heads up. I also forgot to mention I have movie 3 as well, but I haven't bought #2 yet as it's pretty expensive. I was hoping Deep Discount would have some left in stock by the next time their 20% sale comes around in November.

One title that I've kicked myself for not getting was a VHS boxset of Clamp School Detectives that I saw at Anime Expo several years ago. But I had purchased a DVD player the December previous and had become a devoute convert and assumed ( yeah, I know Rolling Eyes Embarassed ) that it would be coming out on DVD soon. Well, it didn't but after a several year wait, it IS going to be released on DVD! Very Happy Looking forward to that!

But the one that I have really, really kicked myself for not getting was Ronin Warriors. God, I had a chance, passed it up and when I went back to get it...gone... Crying or Very sad

Patlabor is decent. It's fairly episodic up until the end, and then the end is kinda left undone until the ova series that came out afterwards completed it. The show pales in comparison to the depth involved in the movies. I got the 3 different box sets through rightstuf sales.

CCS was being sold as a bundle pack for 80 bux for the longest time on rightstuf as well.

I'd like to get City hunter as well...just to have that massive set. I believe R2 has a really awesome set in books and it looks really nice. I forget where someone posted it. I don't think I'd ever be able to get into finishing the show though, if it stayed as episodic as the first 30 episodes that I have watched.

edit: Also, another series that is OOP that I managed to get right before it stopped being made was Kimagure Orange Road. Animeigo was selling the dvds for 4 bux a piece and it's a 12 dvd series along with 3 Ova discs and 1 movie that they had the license to. I was very pleased with this purchase.
