I'm really excited about the news that the Vampire Hunter D Manga is coming out here in the US in November. I just pre-ordered my copy on Amazon. Digital Manga Publishing, who is distributing the manga here in the US, has launched an official Vampire Hunter D website. It's pretty nice. I also just picked up my copy of the latest Vampire Hunter D novel that's been released here in the US, Mysterious Journey To The North Sea, Part One. I plan on settling down tonight to start reading it. I'm sure I won't be disappointed. I've loved all of the other novels.

While the art for the manga looks awesome after looking at the site you can see the manga will just be retelling the stories from the books which is a bit disappointing. I was really hoping for new stories.

Yeah, I noticed that too, but I still think it will be nice to see in pictures what is going on besides just reading it. Who knows. We might get some new stories eventually too. We can only hope.

Isn't Yoshitaka Amano (of Final Fantasy fame) the artist for this manga? If he is, then consider me sold on the manga, new stories or not!

Amano did the drawings and covers for the book. The artist for the manga is someone different but the art looks high quality.

Amano did state somewhere (I think Sandman the Dreamhunters) that while he would do art for books he wouldn't do a full on manga/comic because it would just take him to long.
