This is good, because Disney never really cared to push the films out as much as they could have been. Even better when they're doing that to titles that weren't Miyazaki, because Lasseter's "Ghibli hard-on" only extends to Miyazaki alone.

Quick question... what are the non-theatrical rights as opposed to home video distribution rights?

Bah! For a moment when I read the headline, I thought we might actually be getting Omoihide Poro Poro and Umi ga Kikoeru releases in the U.S.

Seems strange that that some of these titles don't have home distribution rights any more (or never did), yet have non-home video distribution licenses. I'm sure some people will be annoyed that they can't go out and buy certain titles after they've seen them in theaters or on TV.

They partnered with FUNimation to put Summer Wars in theaters.

BTW, anyone else now kind of wishing for an anime titled, "Ghibli 13," in which a stoic Duke Totoro snipes seemingly impossible targets with an assault rifle?

Does this mean I can finally see an official screener of Ocean Waves? And once again catch Only Yesterday without having to pay a damned import fee and/or mod a player for it?

Even better! I got to see Summer Wars in an Alamo, and it was a great time! They showed some short foreign animated films before showtime, really interesting...
