Most of you were either not born a/or young'uns when Aum Shirikyo commenced a gas attack on Tokyo's Subways. Well, they also released some disturbing anime as well.

I remember going to Otakon 2010 and Mike Toole's panel on cult anime. My friend and I who went were cracking up the entire time he showed this.

I recall a AWO episode where they talked about cult anime and manga and mentioned that its actually an oddly common thing in Japan. Though I guess its to be expected, Japan has more "cults" than any other country. That AWO episode also mentioned the Mike Toole panel and ever since then I've wanted him to right an article about it for ANN.

It's definitely rather creepy to see something like that, particular when we already know how the cult eventually resorted to violence against innocent people.

Mushi-Man, when you say that Japan has more cults than any other country, which definition do you mean of cult? Do you actually mean the destructive sort?
