Laughing , I can't decide whether i'm actually surprised by this or not.

No, don't think so. I just don't know whether I should be congratulating anyone or not.

What does that mean?
To check to see if anything was actually stolen/copied?
What exactly would they be checking on that they actually didn't check thoroughly?

But, maybe they were.
And thus, the winners should be congratulated on winning the award, based on the things they didn't steal. Forget the fact that they did copy a few scenes, they won the award based on the ones they didn't. Right?

And btw, since these scenes were copied by people from China, from the people in Japan, is/was there anything the people in Japan could have done? Could they have sued someone? If anything?
Though, I doubt it would have ever gotten very far.... but that's entirely a different story.

My ass. They didn't punish them then (atleast not from what I ever heard reported but I could be wrong), but they will now, should people on the internet get a tad upset? Hell, they didn't even say they'd take back the award...
Another investigation... I'm calling bull on that. Why investigate now, or again, after an award was given? Even though you investigated before? Exactly what would change? Or rather, what exactly would the be investigating now?

I don't think anyone is really prospering from this. It isn't like these guys won an Academy Award or the Palm d'Or. Frankly it sounds like one arm of China's corrupt govt. gave an award to another part of its propaganda machine--it basically gave the award to itself, if I'm reading this right (no surprise there).

As for cheaters being brought to court over this? Good luck with that. China's rotten from the top down.
