How tragic, she was still pretty young...

Rest in Peace, Shibayama-sensei. I never saw any of her works, but still I mourn any manga artist that passes away.

It's horrible when someone passes away so young. We just lost Poison Elves creator Drew Hayes, too, and he was only what? 37? What a shame...

I'm not familiar with Shibayama-sensei's works, but my deepest condolences go out to her family and friends, and those who read her works. Such a tragic death, and so young too.

never seen her work but it still sucks that she died so young and even while working on a manga on top of that very sad

My deepest sympathies to her Family and Friends.
Um, I KNOW I must be missing it but I can't find her in the People section of the Encyclopedia...Is it just me? I hope! Nor did I find any of her manga listed... |

Unfortunately, none of her(?) previous works (a complete list as of Dec 2003 can be found here; it contains all her works except the newest Mugen Shôjo Dreamer Angels) has been submitted until today, so no info about her was ever entered. I didn't recognize who she was at first; turned out I've read one of her manga partially: Bakkotsu Shoujo Giri Giri Purin (a bit surprising that MJ has a dedicated page for it). I'll enter more info about her in a few hours. |

Okay, I've added as much information as I could find. However, after looking at Shibayama-sensei's pictures I'd say the offender (whose post has been deleted by mod) was right: sensei is a "he." "Kaoru" is not a gender-specific name, although it's generally considered more feminine than masculine.
And I honestly do not think a female manga-ka would take (or be assigned to) something like this. EDIT: Corrected a misunderstanding. Last edited by dormcat on Mon Apr 23, 2007 1:16 am; edited 1 time in total |

Thank you for all of your hard work, dormcat. It's greatly appreciated! Even when it isn't something like this.
And you're right, I doubt very much a female manga-ka would have done something like that. |

Another sad news: Mugen (夢幻), author of Maison de Galaxy light novel series, died on Apr. 19 at age of 47 from heart attack (official obituary), following his illustrator Kouji Iwasaki (岩崎 考司, who is also a popular character designer among galgamers) who died just two months ago (Feb. 21) at the young age of 28 due to stroke.
UPDATE: News up front. |
