Bzuhhh?
Well that news certainly came out of nowhere. :/
Funi must really have faith in the fans to take on a project like this. I'm impressed.
I'm sure it won't take long for the complaining to begin, however. *snort*

I was really shocked to read that.
I thought 4Kids had the license for another few years... Maybe that's why they're starting at episode 144.
This is good news indeed.

Excellent.
I have faith in Funimation to correct the wrongs done by 4Kids.

So, we gonna speculate on the dub voice casting yet?
Chris Sabat as Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Smoker, Crocodile, and sixty other characters is my bet.
But who cares? This'll mean uncut bilingual discs, right? I'll FINALLY get to see One Piece the way it's supposed to be seen.

i made a seperate post about this at the Anime thread, but after seeing that ANN had posted the article, i dedcided to let the mods close it and come here.
it was good news, however, lets just hope that this time Funi wont screw things up with the show.

I wonder. Was it through 4Kids, or Toei? I'd imagine Kahn dumped it on them at a cheap price, if it was the former. Toei would probably just give FUNi a discount at best. Anyway, now they just need to get Kinnikuman II and Pretty Cure, and they're set. But I'd imagine them paying for Sailor Moon next.
Neverwhere: FUNimation always wanted One Piece. They even did a dub of one of the episodes for Toei when they were trying to get the rights. Man, that show must have done horribly on dvd for them to finally get it. Now it'll probably just do better than Detective Conan instead of worse than Princess Tutu.

This is great news.
If uncut boxsets with the Japanese track are released, not only will I buy them, but I will pledge my undying love and devotion to FUNimation... as long as there is no "the way it was meant to be seen" business.

Wow, another project picked up by Funi. This makes what, the 5th project this year? This'll be quite a chore too, with not only the new episodes to pick up for the CN showing and the older episodes to rework... I have faith in Funi, though. They seem like they could do it.
On a side note, I know that 4kids dropped it (obviously), but are there any repercussions with reworking the previous episodes and picking up the show so quickly? I don't know how Cartoon Network works, though, so the contract issue (if there was one) may be a simple decision by CN rather than an elaborate procedure involving 4kids.

HOLY SMOKES!
Well this is fantastic news. If YTV can get the rights to the new version, that'd be even better. I've always been a fan of One Piece. Now I can actually buy it.
I also agree with the Boxsets. Even if they release singles, Funi has been good with boxsets anyway, so I can wait.

Lydia: I'm still pissed about missing music cues. At least most home video companies insert alternate tracks.
