Has there been any been any moving compositions from anime that really moved you when you had listened to them? How did you feel?
I was really moved by this one composition in Gundam Seed made by Toshihiko Sakahashi called "Justice and Freedom." When I heard this one I felt that there will always be a better tomorrow. I really liked the trumpet and percussion parts in this song.

Well, a lot of soundtrack instrumental stuff is really moving to me. OP/ED can be pretty impactful too if the lyrics express the series well and it sounds great.
But the song that comes to mind that has had the most emotional or moving impact on me would be Brothers (Bratya) from FMA. The series overall is obviously really meaningful to me anyway so that probably helps, but it is just a beautiful song. It makes me feel so sentimental and sort of sad about what happens in the series. It is really beautifully sung in Russian (ever heard another anime song sung in Russian?!). It perfectly captures the tragic situation of the brothers. Knowing the lyrics is what really does it for me. Sooo sad.

May I start off by saying this is the best topic I have seen in a long time, so thank you LuckySleven.
2 me the opening song for the anime series Gunslinger Girl The Light Before We Land really moved me. I felt like the song captured some of the girls sorrow which in turn caused me to feel a little down myself. Also the song Space Lion from Cowboy Bebop in my mind perfectly captured the listener and took them to the world of space cowboys.

LuckySleven's thread are totally familliar on the other one's and also I was wondering being moved is like your "Favorite Song" so for me the best song and being moved by it is Lilium from Elfen Lied because it makes me relaxed,Latin gives a damn, a wonderful relaxing song of Latin, I wish my country will sell CD's/ Album to it. I also like its Composition and by that it makes me being moved, moved by being relaxed.
Wings of Words of Gundam Seed Destiny I was moved by its soft voice and song. I liked it and when I'm playing this song, I was being nostagic and remembering to re-watch Sci-Fi Films and CSI. I think I was moved by its composition. So I picked this.

I agree Lilium is a very moving song. It is very beautiful. And some of my favorite songs to listen to or sing (I've been in choir for years) are definitely in Latin. I think its my favorite language.

There are two songs I can name off the top of my head for this.
"Home Sweet Home" which I believe was the name of the song that played when Setsuko died in Grave of the Fireflies. It's so cruel they had to put that song in an already rather beautiful but saddening movie.
Another song that for some reason seemed to make things more sad than they probably were is Michiru Oshima's "Sad Resolution - Requim" from Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa. It was played when Edward was going to go back to Geramny after dealing with Eckart and Alphonse was obviously rather upset. Come to think of it that might've been a better ending, the unsatisfaction would still probably linger but it would fall in place with the sad ending of the series. Even though they finally got back to each other it was a short lived experience kind of thing.

Yeah it's the same for me too. When I first watched Gunslinger Girl and heard that song, I felt sad right away and I said to myself that it was going to be a sad anime.
I seem to have a preference for melancholic songs, and anything that sounds sad moves me. Sayonara Solitaire from Chrono Crusade gives me the same effect.
