Yet another great review for this great title from ADV. This is already one of my favorite releases this year and and eagerly await my TRSI pre-order.

Quote:
.... a cross-dressing pictorial featuring the English VAs for d'Eon (a very muscular David Matranga) and Lia (the sexy and relatively new Taylor Hannah) which has to be seen to be truly appreciated.

This was was mentioned in the commentary (which oddly contained some strong language for a "recommended 13+" release) on the first DVD, but I thought they were just joking around. I can't wait to see that.

My copy hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't much to comment on other than I look forward to hearing an ADV dub, something that I don't ever remember saying. Bit saddened to hear that I.G. didn't do any real clean up of Le Chevalier D'Eon. (Same case with manglobe and Ergo Proxy -- are studios just getting lazy when it comes to this?)

Oh, and the mostly recently fansubbed episodes, nineteen and twenty, kind of cemented my love and cleared away any doubts that I've had about the series. Nineteen is tense throughout most of it and twenty provides a very good twist and answers something that's been puzzling me in the opening theme.

I can't wait for this disc to come out, ADV whom I was a bit nervous about handling this property at first has done a great job with this release. I am now somewhat interested in seeing this special extra with cross dressing Shocked.

I just finished watching my copy and was amazed at how active the surround mix is. I haven't heard an anime television series this well mixed since Gungrave and Elfen Leid. There are so many horses neighing, dogs barking, canons firing, and other amazing effects that kept me turning around in my chair. There are even a couple of times where I hit pause to see if the ambient noise was coming from my roommates or the DVD! This series deserves the A for music and audio mixing.

I didn't realize that the two crossdressers were the VA's. This seems a little less odd compared to my initial reaction. I did like the promo event, but would have preferred it if it were spread out on two DVDs since I got a little bored by the cast interview after finishing the Staff interview. I find this is frequently the case and would stagger the Basilisk bonus interviews between every other episode like in the Japanese release or Otogi Zoshi as well. The worst has to be volume seven of Heat Guy J where all the interviews are strung together. Watching to many extras in a row can be taxing.
