Wow, this rule is so broad, it's not even funny. Theoretically speaking: * If i'm a religious zealot, I can find cosplayers being nuns or "soldiers of god" from anime to be offensive. * If i'm a racist bigot, black cosplayers cosplaying anime/game characters that weren't black originally as inaccurate and offensive. * If i'm a homophobe, crossdressers are offensive. *If i'm some hyperactive parent, cosplay that shows cleavage to be offensive. And so forth and so on..... |

NuBras are allowed. * You are not allowed to wear costumes where you can directly see underwear or can see underwear through transparent clothing. * This applies to underwear that is socially acceptable to show; please only let the straps show at the most. * Please properly cover the chest and armpit areas. * For skirts shorter than 1/2 the length of the thigh, or clothing with really long slits, please wear stockings, tights or leggings. C80 Rules on Prohibited Clothing re: Exposure 1. Costumes without underwear * Nipple bandages are not considered underwear; please wear underwear such as a bra. * NuBras are okay. * For swimsuits, please wear underwear or supporters underneath. 2. Costumes which directly show underwear or show underwear through transparent clothing * This includes clothing where you can clearly see underwear when viewing from the chest area or the armpit area. * Underwear must not be visible and at most 1/3 of the chest area can be exposed (females only) * Bra straps that are considered socially acceptable to show are okay. * Underwear-looking clothing that is worn above actual underwear will be treated as normal clothing, not underwear. * Please be aware that there are cases where the type of fabric and the color of clothing can make underwear visible under clothing. |

I see no problems with this whatsoever. Long have I been disheartened to see cosplayers run around in outfits that by any rights would get them arrested for indecent exposure or for being mistaken as a prostitute outside of a convention, so I'm in full support of this rule change. I support one's freedom to dress however one wishes, but at some point a line has to be drawn. |

Being a US citizen myself, it varies across the country. There are more open minded Americans that have no problem showing off his/her body, while they're are also who are very modest and don't think the human body should be displayed so much. Public events often do require that people not dress in "suggestive" attire. I think the dress code rules listed are appropriate. I wouldn't hold anything against a person who wore see through attire, but there would be others who wouldn't want to see somebody's bra through her costume. |

I think people are misconstruing the purpose of the rules "clarification".
Comiket has never really been about the cosplay... And recently from my experiences, what happens is you get a bunch of people who don't really cosplay, but are there for self publicity like Lenfried, etc, in very skimpy outfits, and throngs of photographers go around them. Comiket is a market, not a convention. You go there to buy things, and check out the industry booths, and brave the lines and crowds. I suspect the tightening of the rules is not because of any puritan stance, but simply to cut down on the number of attention seekers that get in the way of the real cosplayers. If they want to take soft-core porn pictures of themselves they can do it where it doesn't cause traffic issues. So yeah, this isn't about showing skin in public: It's about the problem doing that causes for the rest of the participants, in my opinion. |

Anytime I see rules being cramped down to restrict freedoms I do not get happy.
I don't see the big deal about it as long as you don't cause harm to others. If you were causing harm then I can see that as a problem but otherwise I see nothing wrong with it. |
