Aw, they put up the opening theme song, but only bits of the animation from it. Ah well, I suppose that it's worth it to show some clips from the later episodes with some nice shots (what with the first episode having spoiler[Kurau embrace the Rynax energy]), but it would be great to have the full opening theme animation along with it. "Beloved Sea of Infinity" (or whatever translation you want of "Natsukashii Umi") is one of my favorite opening themes, and is a very relaxing and peaceful one, both aurally and visually.
Kurau: Phantom Memory is easily going to be the best anime released stateside this year, only behind Mushishi and possibly Le Chevalier D'Eon depending on how the latter turns out. It's my favorite anime by Bones, tied with Wolf's Rain (though admittedly I favor the latter more due to emotional impact), yet I should mention that Kurau isn't as slow-paced and methodical as it nor will there likely be any protest over the ending (which is quite satisfying). Anybody seeking a mature anime with very strong plotting, excellently developed characters, consistently smooth animation, and a superb musical score should definitely check the series out. |
