So in the ending credits for Yoroiden Samurai Troopers OAV Gaiden episode 1, Masashi Ebara was cast, but I cannot identify the role. Even on my DVDs, I'm unable to make out the kanji clearly. I can't make screencaps, but I can tell you that it is listed right beneath the "police" role by Minoru Inaba. Could anyone help me identify the role, please?

Allcinema identifies his role as 口上師 here, but this is for the OVA "Message", so I'm unsure if it's the same role you're trying to figure out (unless he appears in both, or allcinema mistakenly listed him on the wrong OVA).

Nope, this is definitely a Gaiden role. I do know about his Message role (found out today by watching the ED credits of Message episode 5) and submitted it just now, but the Gaiden role is a two-kanji one. I just can't make out what it is.

I tried digging up the ED doing a quick search and then making a screencap.

I'm pretty sure the second kanji is 長. I'll try to see if I can make out the first (if anyone else wants to help out there, feel free).

With the credits blown up, it seems just a little clearer. Do you think the first kanji could be 機? If so, NJStar's dictionary claims that it's "kichou", ie "pilot". Since this is episode 1 of Gaiden and Ryou, Shin and Shuu are seen on a plane, I suppose that could be it. Upon rewatching the episode, there is a brief moment, when the plane is crashing down, when two men in the cockpit room are talking. I'm not entirely sure which of the two is the pilot though. ^^

From what I could look up quickly (two-kanji words ending with 長), I'm pretty certain you're right there.

EDIT: Ah, and here we go, more confirmation of 機長: http://www.geocities.jp/lesvoixdesanges/ve/ebaramasashi.html

I don't know how you found this, but thank you! I submitted the role with that URL as proof.

Btw, do you use JWPce? It has a function that allows it to search for words either beginning or ending (or both) with a specific kanji which is very useful. Sometimes the list of results is very long but it usually still yields a result. The only thing it could do better is to have a search function solely for names. But as it is, it already does what NJStar doesn't, which is to recognize names, which has helped me in many instances.

I tried Googling 江原正士 機長 and it came up as the first result. Les voix des Anges is a good site in general to find some obscure information though. I use it a lot so I should have thought to check even without trying Google.

I haven't, but given what you said, maybe I should, since that does sound useful.
