Over a decade later they managed to produce a scene by scene copy that manages to look cheaper and uglier. Quite an achievement.

Ahahahaha I found the scene at the end where they unashamedly ripped Mt. Fuji out of the background and replaced it with nothing remarkable absolutely hilarious.

Question: which is cheaper, completely recreating a show shot-by-shot, or just buying the blinking rights, editing out the overt Japanese elements (Mt. Fuji) and redubbing it in Chinese? One would think it would be the latter, though admittedly that is some really cheap animation in the Chinese version.

Yeah, that'll be the day when Funana does something original. And my god, that is some awful CG work! That's like something you'd find in 1990 (before Mainframe showed everyone how to do good CG on a TV budget). If they're just going to copy someone else's work they should have just gotten Taiwan's Next Media Animation to do it. Would have been a lot more entertaining that way. Emerje |

PFFT. The newer one i would expected to AT LEAST have better animation. Thats just sad. Stealing ideas and failing in one go

Oh god I just had this image in my head where the chinese producers were thinking to themselves "This should do it, now no one will suspect anything"....

man I don't know if I want to call this a rip-off or not. This is coming from the same country that did a Orange Gundam statue. Also this isn't the only time China sort of rip-off animation, anybody know Astro Plan?
Yeah this Chinese animation ripped off both Macross and Gundam, it isn't the first time China sort of "claim it's their own". Even the character Fei Yi in Astro Plan looks like Lockon Stratos from Gundam 00, this picture below is an example: Also, I remember a month ago, a Chinese game company made a complete rip-offof Team Fortress 2 (not to be confused with the Korean one, which I believe ANN had an article about). When I said rip-off I mean they used TF2 announcer in here without permission, they took the map from Battlefield Heroes, and the character in there are just TF2 characters but changed into firemen and other stuff. Even the UI look too much like TF2. It like they couldn't be that creative. |

So they're basically ripping off an anime version of Thomas the Tank Engine, and retooling it with CGI involving Pat Lee.
Aim high, China! |

Besides being a blatant ripoff, it just looks terrible. Like Playstation 1 bad. I can't see their grand plan of airing this show in Japan and elsewhere ever happening once people see it.

Haha, well at least they tried to keep it a low radar copy by making the quality suck. xD

I'll give China credit here, at least this one's an official production approved by the rights holders. Can't say the same for their other copycat shows.
