Have you guys lost interest in an anime because you got tired of waiting for the next episode so you just went ahead and read the manga way beyond the anime. For me, Death Note and Naruto just lost my interest. I'm way too ahead of the anime and just watch the anime for kicks. Most of the time with Death Note it feels like I've actually seen the episode. I know Death Note is one of those animes were the manga is probably better or equivalent as watching the anime if you have a good imagination. I'm glad I stopped reading the Bleach manga cause I actually like the anime still (now that it's out of fillers). Hopefully Naruto will be the same.

(not native English)
It happens all the time when I watch anime after reading the manga (assuming the anime is based on the manga and not vice versa). I just want the anime to hurry up and get to a specific scene/point etc that I want to see animated. I don't think this way when reading a manga after watching the anime, as I can set my own pace when reading. There are exceptions though, such as series like Gravitation, Kodocha and Kashimashi, which manage to feel like different stories while still keeping within the original universe. I guess that is easier to to with comedy series. |

I don't watch anime because I don't have cable or satellite. And saturday morning cartoons are all stuff like pokemon, yugioh, one piece, sonic etc.

I know what you mean, I've read the NANA manga a fair amount ahead of where the anime is right now and I definitely feel like I've seen stuff before. I also have to admit that I lose track of when things happened and so my chronology of the series is quite messed up. But it's fun in it's own way: the reason I read scanlations of NANA is that I just needed to know what happened next and couldn't wait for the anime (or even worse, the English translation, which is now quite a bit behind the anime since it's being released at a slower rate because of the serialization in Shoujo Beat.

That's weird, because your English is excellent. As far as the topic goes, I have definitely had this problem with Deathnote. I guess when a series is all about the suspense of "What happens next?" it loses some of it's excitement when you know what's going to happen. Interstingly, I've just started watching Bleach again (no more fillers, yay) and it's actually keeping me entertained quite well. It may have something to do with the fact that I read the manga correlating to the new episodes about a year ago. Because of that, I don't remember everything perfectly, so it's more exciting. At the same time, I can't wait to see some of the more stand-out fights later on. That's one thing about Shonen fight series: watching them in anime form is pretty entertaining because seeing the fights in motion is pretty cool. |

Haha, he/she's got better english than most on this site. The fillers of Bleach aren't that bad. I was sort of like "YES! It's not some random-ass crap." It's like a side-story in between the main ones. They're not as "killer" as the Naruto "fillers" are they? ^that was the corniest thing I've ever said... |

This usually isn't the case for me, as I usually get into a manga series by watching the anime first. As a result, some of the manga I buy start at the point where the anime ended. =\

Sadly I often have the opposite problem. Frequently the anime is released here before the manga. I watch all the anime (or rediculous amounts of it for REALLY long series') and find I have a hard time maintaining interest in the manga volumes at the slow pace they arrive. I've had Rurouni Kenshin, One Piece, even Fruits Basket fall victem to this. Even when I know the manga goes past the point the anime stops, I have a problem working up the interest to read all the stories I already watched so I can get to the new parts. I don't think I've ever had the manga keep me away from the anime.

The Funimation channel is available for free (in big cities?) if you have an HDTV with (with HD Tuner). I get the channel over the air with a 99cent antenna, so it's funimation anime 24/7. For an HD channel, the quality isn't that good though, but it's not bad since most of the anime are old school 4:3 format. I also get the qubo channel which show Pecola (CGI Anime), very cool. |
