This is great to hear! Many fans were afraid Sailor Moon would never see another release in the UK.

!!!!

this is huge news omg!

i still have the mvm dvds in my collection. sadly i remember hearing at a panel a long time ago that none of the anime distributors (least of all mvm, who were almost bankrupted by their sailor moon deal) in the uk wanted to even consider releasing it. so this is huge news!

i eagerly await any industry announcements from mcm twice a year, but sailor moon has never featured... but i'm so glad that there's now some idea to release it on dvd/blu-ray!

just an addendum though, the dvds that mvm released do go up to R, the second season. it's not just 40 or so episodes, as the article suggests. the last dvd release i have goes up to episode 77, which is around the time of prince diamond / demande.

there's another super rare dvd release that goes up to episode 82, and apparently a PAL box set of season 2, which i have never seen come up for sale except for archived Amazon and eBay listings.

fun fact, though, the AS SEEN ON GMTV sticker on all the MVM releases... only applies for the first 20 or so episodes. Laughing i think with GMTV's early morning broadcast of sailor moon in the early-mid 2000s, they only got given a handful of episodes and then had no choice but to repeat them. the only way to really watch sailor moon back then was either to watch it religiously on fox kids (if you had sky/satellite tv) and try to keep on top of how often they'd change it around in the schedule. and of course, collecting the DVDs that MVM put out, which have gotten more and more expensive over the years (or at least, based on what eBay sellers want for them).
