That's kind of sweet that he wants it to honor Keiko Nobumoto.

Imagine having assistance from the action director of John Wick and famous composers who grew up on Watanabe anime.

At least it looks like this will be a complete anime with no rush by the time it airs.

Trailers have been in existence since last year - definitely isn't a last minute rush job like most anime seems to be these days.

Cowboy Bebop is a hard act to follow. Watanabe so far hasn't been able to, as far as I'm concerned. But I'm looking forward to this, anyway.

Wait... I didn't know Keiko Nobumoto passed. She, Nabeshin (not the Excel one) and Sunrise are singlehandedly the reason I love Welsh Corgis to this day.

Maybe the Toonami original curse will finally be broken?

I have no idea how this will turn out, but at the very least it's great to see Watanabe so enthusiastic about what he's created. I remain cautiously optimistic.

I really miss Keiko Nobumoto, though. Bebop and Wolf's Rain are both on my anime Mount Rushmore, and her incredible writing played a huge part in making them masterpieces.

So, Steve Blum is definitely doing the English voice now, right?

I am glad that she is getting more recognition in recent years. At one point, most people seemed to be believed that Watanabe was the lead writer.

Hello, Samurai champloo. For me is better than Cowboy Bebop.

I feel like every show Watanabe has done in the modern era is promoted as his magnum opus and then it ends up not being so. People keep trying to chase Cowboy Bebop's success on Adult Swim and just can't. Space Dandy was called this back in the day before it aired. Wasn't a bad show but you can't re-capture nostalgia.

Samurai Champloo is but a shadow of Bebop. It's decent, but not nearly as emotionally impactful.

It feels a little premature to declare something your greatest work before it's even out, but I'm glad he's excited about it? I share the skepticism of folks that don't think it'll match up to Bebop, especially while it sounds like it is closely reusing character archetypes from it. But, will certainly watch regardless; would be cool to be surprised.
