My wish is to get Gon The Stone Age Boy. Whether it be the 1970s series, 2000s series, or if were lucky we might both.

For me, this question is a two-parter:
1) What unlicensed anime would you like to get picked up? 2) What licensed anime THAT DID NOT GET A PHYSICAL RELEASE would you like to get one? For question number one, off the top of my head, my answer would be Macross: Do You Remember Love? Apparently this did get a UK VHS release back in 1995. I've never seen any version of this film but it seems to have an almost mythical status among old school anime fans so I'd like to see a proper version. 2) Erin the Beast Player. This was (and may still be) streamed on Crunchy but never got a physical release which I would love to own. |

It also got a really bad dubbed release in the US under the title of Clash of the Bionoids. I've personally never watched it myself, but from my understanding, it was cut down to 90 minutes from its original 120 minute run time. I did, however see the international English version dub released by Toho in the mid-80s, which I believe was the same dub used for Clash of the Bionoids. The acting in the dub sounds like they were just reading the script for the first time as they were recording the dialog. As for the OP's original question, I'd love to see 1987's Metal Armor Dragonar get licensed for a physical release in the US and other regions. |

^ If you are ok with subs, you may be happy to hear that DYRL is getting a Japanese release with English subs this next January 29th 2025. Appears that it has to be imported from Japan. Depending on the exchange rate, probably at least $100 US and maybe seriously more.

Thanks for that info. Yeah, $100+ US for a movie may be a little rich for my blood. i could maybe do it if I thought that was going to be the only way to get a legit copy but with my luck, the day it arrives, Discotek announces its barebones version for $19.99...
Also, I'm more than okay with subs. In fact, they are my preferred way of enjoying anime. Don't speak Japanese, don't understand that many words but I sure love the sound of it. Especially female Japanese voice. Kawaii! |

I'm going to have to be like Blood and split it.
( edited in a choice, sorry ) First part: Round Vernian Vifam ( Galactic Drifter Vifam? ). Had to think a bit, and realized this has been sitting on my data drive for like 10 years. Good kids trucking through a space war looking for their folks action/adventure. Got a sequel I think, but I've never seen that. Second, for a physical release: I'm going with Vladlove, because I'm afraid it is just going to disappear off Youtube and that will be it.  There are several better shows I like, but I think they all have a better chance of surviving, so if I can magically select one, I'm going with the biggest "dark horse".

I would most like to see Doremi finally get an official sub release as it's frustrating it's one of those major magical girl shows that never got a proper chance in the US thanks to 4Kids. For shows streaming that never got a home video release, I would have to say Showa Rakugo because it's just unfair that a show that good never had a physical release.

Doremi or Akazukin Chacha.
While I can't think of anyone willing to take a chance on Doremi (even though it's really good!) I could possibly see Discotek getting Chacha. If it happens, I wonder if there'd be the possibility of getting the SMAP intro song, not that there's anything wrong with the Shoko Sawada version. |

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd use this existing one to ask a somewhat related question... which TV series, which received a physical release, would you like to see get a sequel? For me, the answer is easy... Shigurui: Death Frenzy. It may have been the first anime TV series on Blu-ray that I ever bought. In fact, I remember having to watch it at the office because there was a Blu-ray player there and I didn't yet own one (I knew I'd be getting one soon which is why I bought Shigurui on Blu-ray). Anyway, I loved the series, but like many anime adaptations, it literally stopped in mid-story. There's only one cours. It came out in 2007 so I'm not expecting a sequel ever, even with the example of Kimi ni Todoke going 13 years between instalments. What a damn shame. And I can't even "go read the manga" because it never got a North American release. I'm sure there are scanlations out there but that's never my favourite way of reading manga.

That’s an easy one for me, Blood-! I’ve been hoping for years that they’d do a sequel series for Flying Witch, especially since I started reading the original manga.

Grimgar is definitely the one I most want a sequel to especially with other isekai from several years back suddenly getting new season it's surprising this hasn't happened yet

My answer has long been Isao Takahata’s Anne of Green Gables. One of the best things he ever did; it has some serious personal meaning for me and the many artistic flourishes the proto-Ghibli team used to express Anne’s inner life only elevate the material further. I imagine it’s not an easy acquisition nor the wisest license, but a man can dream!
(My runner-up is the long-neglected Kemonozume. I desire a complete Yuasa library!) |

It existed (in movie compilation form)....
It's my favourite Takahata movie. But, yeah, I'd love to see Kemonozume get licensed. And Hyouge Mono, and the full, proper Super Dimension Fortress Macross; not Robotech and, speaking of compilations, not Do You Remember Love? #1 would be Hyouge Mono, though. |

We got lucky in the US that we did get a proper release of Super Dimension Fortress Macross subtitled on DVD by Animeigo in 2001 and an English dub (with Mari Iijima reprising her role as Minmay) by ADV Films in 2005. Unfortunately, both are rather expensive these days. |
