In general, I'm pretty happy with how everything turned out. I think the first Remake entry had the stronger story overall (due to how linear it was presented) and the combat & exploration was better in Part 2. I'm very much looking forward to the conclusion & am of the mind that they've got their ducks in enough of a row that it should be a fun/bombastic ending to everything.

The original FF7 on PS1 wasn't particularly my favorite of the three mainline Final Fantasy titles on the console, mainly due to translation issues and how abstract it can get both aesthetically and during gameplay. To me, FF7R cleaned up a lot of the more confusing/mistranslated spots and turned the story into the "modern" blockbuster I'd always hoped it would be.

I know it was impossible to do so, but I would of rathered a retelling of the original story instead of the meta nonsense Nomrua loves to do. Personal preference.

He's not even the writer it's rediculous people think the story was his doing when interviews made it clear he pushed back on most changes and wanted the story to be more faithful.

Interesting, it certainly felt like his style of writing (or at least the games he was responsible for), and I did look it up and the search I did came up with him having a co-credit on writing. I stand corrected. Has no impact on my feelings for the games though.
