Honestly I'm surprised it took so long for someone to decide to make something for india. I know they're a completely different market compared to basically everywhere else on the planet, but you'd still think there'd be more stuff made for them

I'm trying to fully understand this series, but the humor is soooo outdated. For instance: Forceful-groping gags; and the MC's guardian tongue-licking people like a dog.
The satire is probably too cringe now. I do get the MC's trademarked misunderstanding of the meaning of "tomodachi" (friend) with his mash-up word "tomodachinko"; mashing two words into something like "bud-dink". ("buddy" and "dick") And then pulls that forced-groping gag. |

There is one other example, although it's a manga: animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-01-06/kyojin-no-hoshi-baseball-manga-remade-for-india-with-cricket |

I just discovered on Youtube that there is a channel with episodes of Obocchama-kun available with English subtitles. It appears the channel is from the same team who had uploaded Oishinbo* and Atashin'chi back in 2020-21 judging by their channel's description and formatting. i.e. "Each episode will be available for 45 days", and "Episode 1 and some popular episodes will always be available". (I was able to watch those channels in North America.)

I know this new version is primarily aimed at the Indian market, but it would be cool for it to eventually get released in other markets (even if only for a limited time) so that international fans of the series can have a chance to watch it.
It currently airs on Sony YAY! in India. Some episodes from the Hindi dub are currently available on their official YouTube channel.
Adding to this, here is the link to the Obocchama-kun channel for anyone interested. |
