Man. This is a really scathing review. Shocked

I don't know what it is about fan service and flagrant sexual teasing that has warranted such hatred from a large portion of American fans, but I for one find this prejudice to be just short of ludicrous. The author of this critique admits wholehartedly that Girls Bravo is humorous and entertaining, but has decided that cleavage and pantyshots ruin a series. There's a serious double standard in American fandom in that when men are objectified as droning courtesy machines that fall all over plain-jane girls in Shoujo Manga it's high art, but a healthy masculine affinity for the female form is nothing short of crass. Anime is all about fantasy folks, if you think otherwise, your kidding yourself. Some of us like the pretty girls, and if you're one of them, you'll love Girls Bravo just fine. Wink

It seems to be that this review slammed Girls Bravo purely for doing what it set out to do, deliver a by the numbers harem rom-com. It also appeared that the reviewer was more than a little biased in terms of his opinion about said genre, this bias perhaps best encapsulated in this comment "Overshadowed by the usual harem drivel that pretends to be comedy" (emphasis mine).

I dont read a huge amount of the reviews here because this attitude seems to be strongly prevalent, "So this anime is X eh? Well its not Y so what the fudge good is it". Or with pictures

I also found the faux-offence at sexual comedy to be, well, at least naive if not laughably disinegnuous, because there sure isnt any sexual comedy or innuendo in any major western comedies no-siree Rolling Eyes

I wanted to like this, but after the 100th (ok I'm exaggerating) time someone is beaten to a bloody pulp, it just gets tiresome. Takes more than cute girls to make a show enjoyable. Just seems to me that all of the jokes fall flat and I just really didn't care about any of these characters or what happens to them. And that is the worst sin an anime can commit.
