It’s too bad the review couldn’t include episode 3; it’s the best one yet, and feels the least “restrained”, aka the most Trigger-ish yet.

I must say that bat and mandrake scene was hysterical. It was the funniest thing I've seen in quite a while. And definitely enjoying the general humor throughout so far.

I just came to say that the official name of this series in spanish it's "Calabozos y Tragones", a pun of "Calabozos y Dragones", "Dungeons and Dragons" in spanish.
"Tragones" meaning "Guzzlers". That's both the stupidest and greatest localization name ever. |

I think Grant may have unintentionally included a pretty significant spoiler, since at this point in the story the audience is not supposed to know that spoiler[Marcille is a half-elf]. Granted, manga fans are really bad at keeping that a secret (partially because they love memeing/joking about spoiler[Half-Italian Marcille]), so I doubt he was even aware it's a spoiler.

The contrast between both reviews is like night and day. And what the hell was the part about the visuals all about? Now that the first 3 episodes are out it's safe to say that they delivered in terms of animation (especially in regards to character acting), storyboarding and backgrounds. |

You can't pull the "art is subjective" card when it comes to technical things such as the principles of animation. The very same principles that were invented and refined by Disney's Nine Old Men. The show has had some very impressive cuts so far in terms of execution and complexity. Claiming visually nothing stands out positively is a straight up lie. |

Of course you can. I don't agree with the other critic in this instance, I think the show is rather handsome. But if you think Milht Khal's animation is boring and unremarkable you are entitled to that opinion. It's a minority opinion but that doesn't make you "wrong." |

I personally enjoy the animation, but before episode 3, it was pretty mild for Trigger.

I didn't buy the explanation for the moving armor, making me think "why would anyone make armor like that?", ""how would a nest of creatures know what the helmet's for?", "I know how muscles work, I don't know how mollusks acting like muscles work" to "Why? From considering it either as a magically created creature or a product of evolution, why?"
This idea would have worked with a mimic... how do you eat the chest trying to eat you? It's a hermit crab... but as an excuse to eat 'magic armor" it's just lame. |

You're seriously trying to find logic in monsters? What causes a creature to have a goat, a lion and a dragon for heads and a snake for a tail? How do Skeletons move without muscles? How does a Pegasus fly without hollow bones like a bird? The answer is they just do. But even in the real world there's plenty of examples of animals that look like other things. Insects that look like leaves, moths that look like birds, octopus that look like various fish, there's not real end to it. In the case of this episode the mollusks made their shells look like pieces of armor and colonized into something defensive the same way a viceroy butterfly adapted to make itself look like the more toxic monarch butterfly. If these things are at least as intelligent as octopus then I could see them learning to move by imitating humans. Back to the episode, I briefly had the thought that if the armor is alive then the sword and shield probably were too. Then the eyes popped out of the sword. I guess he got himself a friend and emergency rations. Emerje |

The third episode delivering a perfect score.... Is it because of Senshi's fanservice too?

World building is one of Dungeon’s biggest strengths, and it only gets better from here.

This was a good episode. I know a lot of Japanese fantasy series tend to make orcs very pig-like, but the detail of baby orcs having stripes like wild boar piglets do is a nice touch and also very cute.

I’m glad you mentioned Mario 64…that was my first thought too.
The second segments animation was so expressive. The action animation was great, but the real strength was the character acting animation. |
