Well, it's that or the reason is while the story arc involve Shinobu a lot, they cannot get Maaya Sakamoto to sing character song for an opening, so PC came out with this.

If you wanted a Shinobu charason, you could always try Sakamoto-san's "Waiting for the Rain", which although it was the ED from Gakusen Toshi Asterisk, if you listen to the lyrics there are bits in there that sound surprisingly Shinobu-like.

Opening songs aside, Shinbo’s works have always made interesting use of music — it’s almost like a character itself, sometimes.
