While this is not my most favorite book from Furuya, I love everything she puts out, and this is no exception. It’s cute and generally a nice read and I don’t mind the slow burn. I hope we get the rest of her stuff one day, but at this point I think it’s just S & N and Long Period that we’re missing. I haven’t checked to see if she’s started anything new recently.
Also sort of OT, but along the vein of something cute and nice to read, I really hope someday Koi no Shikata ga Wakaranai by Machio Yu gets licensed. It’s one of my comfy go-tos like Furuya’s books are.

The review pretty much had me sold until I hit "girlfriend plot," sigh, but I have been on a bit of a childhood friends kick lately thanks to a certain Ogre Battle clone, and I can't really say no to more Furuya.

This series has one of my favorite confession scenes, but I was bit underwhelmed by the official translation of said translation.
I had read the unofficial translation before, so I can’t say which is more accurate, but the unofficial one had more of a punch in my opinion.
Overall though, this is one of my favorite series of hers.

Unofficial translations tend to be word-for-word with minimal editing, but word-for-word Japanese can still be quite poetic in capable hands. When I look at a scanlation and translate it back into Japanese in my head, I can usually come pretty close to the original text. Haven't gotten to this one just yet, but if it's like the Seven Seas release of The Two Lions, I suspect the unofficial translation was probably more accurate.
There are a couple places in Seven Seas' release of the latter that stuck out at me for reasons I couldn't quite place at the time, but a bit of cross-referencing showed me that the release had outright altered a few things that might make readers "uncomfortable," such as Junpei's fairly frank but not terribly homophobic comments on his own sexuality up to that point, and a very, very mildly misogynist line in Leo's flashback (a change that made it seem like he was agreeing to casual sex, rather than being repulsed), which had the opposite effect of making him seem like an asshole. (My remarks in the former's talkback thread are really naive in hindsight.)
So either it was toned down somehow or you just read a really good scanlation. I can't really rule out either.
