I don't tend to listen to too many new general anime podcasts nowadays that aren't focused on a more specific topic, but I'm sure they've worked hard on this and wish them luck in getting it off the ground. CR (and previously Funi) have both had their fair share of weekly shows/podcasts over the years, but none ever really stuck around long enough to have much of an impact.

Though it's a shame that the name The Anime Effect also just immediately makes me think of The Canipa Effect, a channel that was (rightfully) critical of CR's business practices in recent years and only just ended/retired less than a month ago. I am going to assume that is not intentional, but still.

I was not a fan of Crunchyroll's previous attempt at podcasting but if this new group can get good interviews and guests, I am all in. I am currently re-listening to ANNCAST from the beginning when it was Zac and Justin. So many insightful and interesting interviews. Its also fascinating re-listening now with the hindsight of the Anime streaming industry.

Do we need a podcast for those guys or that company? I'd rather prefer them to focus on improving their services.

I liked the CrunchyCast but I'm skeptical a modern Crunchyroll podcast can capture the vibe of that podcast in the same way.

Definitely made me think of The Canipa Effect too. Don't know how I feel about that...

They have improved the service, remember that old video player they once to used?. My only issue, is how a lot of title are region locked. But I don't think that is a financial issue.

I think he meant improving the text translations. There are too many episodes that don’t translate onscreen text.

Those were the days, huh? I was listening to those religiously until it ended.

The Geneon and Bandai Ent. episodes were the best.

Yes! I also get a chuckle every time Vguy comes up. I remember checking the site everyday to see if there was a new upload. Zac and Justin were just so compelling to listen too. Zac always was clear spoken and had great questions and interesting guests lined up for the show. Justin brought the physical side of media and obscure titles that it was never boring. I wish there was a push to keep up their work on the podcast as reviewing episodes of a popular show of the week can become stale, at least for me.
