Great to know there are still plans for it to resume, even though it's been 10 years since the last episode.

I had a feeling they were waiting for the manga's ending, i'm glad it was the reason, even though it's been a while since then, I still often think ot it when I see another chapter coming out.

I need to give this one a try someday, but it's sooooo long. How's the anime adaptation, do ya'll think I'd be better served watching it, or reading the manga? Probably won't find time for both....

Difficult to make a recommendation on this subject since Space Brothers is one of those series with a very faithful adaptation, personally I preferred the manga because the pace of the anime was a little slow to me but I could be biased because I started the manga a few months before the anime so I already knew the scenes in advance, however, aside from that slow-paced feeling, the anime never disappointed me from start to finish so someone who gets by without informations might find the pacing of the anime perfect. The number of episode can be bothersome if you don't have much time but there are many recaps which can be skipped.

So can anyone do a quick sum up; how much of the manga got adapted for the first series of like 99 episodes and how much is there now that hasn't been adapted?

187 chapters have been adapted out of the 400+ at the time of writing, I don't remember anything really "big" or noteworthy being skipped in the anime, it was really faithful other than the fact that the anime has recap and some fillers ( not really full episode filler, just some quick flashback ) .

This is fantastic news. For the period it aired, Space Brothers was like a delightful ray of sunshine every week. Very glad there are plans to resume. And if the manga ending is in sight, I wouldn't think there's too much need to wait; they could do like Cross Game, and start when the manga is close enough to finish that there's no danger of catching up.
