I still can't believe that Detective Conan/Case Closed is that old now. I think the hiatus is worth it simply to let more research be conducted for certain cases. Either way, happy 30 years, Conan!

It's not really a hiatus just because of the 30th anniversary. Aoyama takes frequent breaks in order to make sure he doesn't overwork himself as he gets older, and a 5-6 week break is kind of normal for him at this point.

It is just the regular breaks he usually takes. But the timing is very particular to line up with the 30th anniversary. Notably the first chapter was also published January 10th back on 1994. Usually, regardless of breaks, there would be some chapters in December for the January issue.

Hattori vs Kaito Kid should be fun even though we all know a legit confession isn't happening in the movie. But it'll look fantastic.
