Yay, I suddenly remember how old I am. Thanks Atlus.

I don't doubt that new players will find things to like with the new cast - some of the new voices are honestly a bit better than some of the original's weakest performances - but this sort of just reads as trying to paint over the fact that the ENG cast is the only one that got replaced. It's interesting to see what happened with FF7R - the JP cast is the standard FF7 crew that's been around for a while if I'm not mistaken, but SE hired a weeeeeeeird gaggle of ENG actors around the time Advent Children came out, and just kinda stuck with them literally right up through Dissidia NT on PS4. FF7R was MUCH better for the shakeup, it's probably one of THE best English dubs I have EVER heard. A big part of that has to do with the original ENG VAs on FF7 projects sounding really stiff and flat - though a big part of it was likely the voice director's fault too.

I hear Junpei's new ENG voice and it sounds like a Vic impression that's missing some highs & lows. I hear Mitsuru's and it sounds like it's a Tara impression that is a bit too shakey in the moments where it's not supposed to be.

The Japanese seiyuus aren't exactly teenagers either.

Justice sounds good as Shinjiro but you can't just dangle Grant George in front of me!

So I'm guessing the next one is going to be Fuuka/Ken/Aigis' VA's. I wonder who from the OG!cast they'll bring back. Liam? Tara? Yuri?

If I remember right they were also casting for a Mitsuru VA who could properly say her French lines.

Nice of SEGA and Atlus SEGA and Atlus for sharing the spotlight on the English voice actors for P3R, even though I know they are not the same voice actors from the original P3. And although I'm not an English speaker, I played the original P3 in English (since there wasn't an option to switch audio), but I liked their voices, I guess it will be hard to get used to the new VAs. Though I wish that SEGA would dub the Persona series into more languages as well, in recent times there have been more dubs of Japanese games into other languages outside of English, like Final Fantasy XVI. I know dubbing a video game is more difficult than an anime or movie, but it could help to grow an audience in other countries

Seems kind of mean to invite one of the old VAs that got replaced and dangle his replacement in front of him.

Or maybe just wanting to see how the new gen handle the work? What makes you think that you really know how Grant George really feels?

I'm just saying I would find it kind of insulting if it was me. If I was replaced and then they told me to still come promote the game I'd tell them to pound sand.

At least they pull it off pretty convincingly! I always felt that the P3 dub cast was fairly horrendous when compared to 4 and 5's, but at least a couple of them were able to pull off being young-ish. This new cast really is just 40-50 year olds trying to come off as hip. And some, in the case of Akihiko's VA, doesn't even bother to put in the minimum effort.

Their midlife crises fill my ears.

Saab sounds fine vocally even if I think Liam captured Akihiko better.

Atlus already posted a behind the scenes video showcasing Aigis, Fuuka, and Ken before this one.

Some of the OG cast have cameo roles in the remake. Tara Platt is still voicing Elizabeth, with Yuri Lowenthal voicing Yukari's dad. In the behind the scenes videos, Grant George, Karen Strassman, and Michelle Ruff from the OG cast and Cindy Robinson (Ken in the spinoffs) have made appearances.

Regardless of how the old VAs actually feel about it (Even if they're actually upset, it wouldn't do much to complain about it), the videos definitely come off as odd when you have the original VAs going on about how much they liked their roles and how big their roles for them and in the same video so "anyway, here's the new cast". Absolutely no shade to the new cast but as someone who has already bought P3 three times it's frustrating to have the old cast just tossed aside when many of them seem to still be available to the point of still being in the game.

For what it's worth, apparently Yuri Lowenthal and Aleks Le are friends and Yuri was really excited that Aleks got the role of Makoto.

I am cynical! Sometimes! But this is definitely not a "misconception" when older actors fail to come off as young.

It's Dawson's Creek all over again.

Most of the new English voice cast is in their 30’s with a couple of 20 year olds in there. The Japanese voice cast if it’s the same voice actors from 2007 has a 56, 45,43, 44, 50, 43, 56, 58 year old in the same roles.

If we’re with no hint of irony going to complain about middle aged/elderly people playing teenagers in a high school setting not coming off as believable, this is going to come off hypocritical at best and dumb at worst.
