I have zero faith in Adi Shankar to do this correctly. The Madhouse anime was no great work of art (nice character designs, but the action and story were outright middling) but I have a feeling it will be viewed much more favorably when this comes out.

I'm curious, Netflix seems to be able to gather some talented, or at least competent, animation studios throughout America for their animated shows. Why exactly does no other company in America do the same?
For example Star Trek: Lower Decks, it's a part of well-known IP published by a large company with deep pockets. Realistically, it should at least be half as well animated as this. But instead, it's visually bankrupt and animates like shit. And that's just one of countless examples. I really do not understand it.

He seems genuinely enthusiastic about the property. Just wonder how much they might change up the series' lore.

I think Titmouse does pretty good for the kind of shows Lower Deck is. I wouldn't say it looks like, say, Castlevania but it doesn't have to.

Madhouse's DMC had the advantage of having guest writers and producer from the video games. The one part I found kinda boring was Dante's personality kinda tired which Langdon helped to make more appealing. Maybe his "sidekick" didn't really fit with his hunting demon basis.
Netflix's Dante seems to have the advantage of being cocky like in 3, 4 and 5 with a similar adult design so we can avoid the second coming of Alucard's orgy which was forced as heck. Capcom never really explored the Sparda lore that much so I see possibility of it being expanded more in order to come up with more villains fitting to Dante rather than using Vergil again.

Simple explanation is many companies don’t see any value in dumping anymore money than necessary to ensure animated projects have high quality animation and as we all know if the animation has less than stellar art design that’s usually a creative choice.

While I'm not a fan of Netflixvania, the juvenile style of writing would seem more fitting for DMC so it's not as egregious if it ends up having the same style of dialog and writing. Not really super interested either way, but this feels like a more fitting series to adapt for Netflix.

Must've missed that meeting...

I assume this is first going to tackle adapting DMC3 (not that they have to stay strictly within the game canon).

You forget that Netflix is just as guilty as everyone else when it comes to doing this too.. They've hired Bento Box and Polygon Pictures on many productions, and a common complaint about anime like Sword Gai or High Rise's adaptation is because they hired mediocre to incompetent animation teams to deal with them (Be honest, neither Felix Film or Zero-G are good studios as lead producers). Hell even companies that should be better than normal like Production I.G and Bones have had their fair share of misfires on the platform.

It's not really new at all. There's been people complaining about things like the gratuitous swearing and try-hard edgy stuff since the first season of the first series.

The trendy hate for Castlevania started with S3. The cartoons are the most successful Castlevania project of all time, of course, immediately followed by Lords of Shadows 1. There is also just one game that is as acclaimed as the cartoon. Insane that Konami didn´t even try to licens the IP out for at least one 2D style game after S2 but it´s for the better. Can´t wait for the next half dozen Silent Hill projects that won´t work either.
DMC better be a reboot and most likely is. Inserting random cartoons into a 2 decades long canon of a game IP is basically idiotic. And not just because Capcom failed at it again and again. Arcane didn´t care about keeping the LoL lore and characterizations straight either and that is the show to beat. Mario 2023 ain´t "canon". Etc. The vague canon placements of the Warcraft and Assassin's Creed films that failed are other examples and don´t wait up on another DMC game in the next 5 years as the core team has another game to ship. This will be THE DMC project between games most likely.

Swearing was the least that's wrong with Netflix Castlevania. My issues with the series was that the supposed main trio spent the whole second season in the basement, doing nothing but talking with each other. The vampires weren't really any more interesting.

Arcane knocked it out of the park so hard, it's actually become the new lore basis. LoL backstories are literally being changed and retconned to fit into the Arcane timeline now.
I'm not gonna be surprised if they change the subtitle to "A League of Legends Story" come season 2.
