How do these Prime Video channels work? Is there any reason somebody would get their Crunchyroll subscription this way instead of directly?

I've never noticed any price differences in using them; as best I could tell, it was just a matter of whether viewing in Prime's UI was the most convenient way (or the only way, in rare cases) for a person to legally view the content. I guess you might consider it as an alternative to CR's main site if you hate the CR main site UI? Or if you're the rare person who actually watches a ton of Prime Video content, and is often browsing there anyway.

The only reason i can think of is to group all the applications in one place, basing on others subscriptions available on Prime video, their price is the same if not higher than subscribing directly on their site. We have already been using tv screen as monitor for decades and the crunchyroll application is available with about all the mainstream platform.

The primary advantage is having all your content in one app. It’s also advantageous if you want to have something on a platform or OS that doesn’t support the original app.

So is this actually going to include all of CR’s library? Because some of these Amazon channels tend to not include the full library of the services and cost the same amount so you’re basically paying the same for less content.

The main thing is that crunchyroll doesn't really have a native TV app. You usually need a third party device to access the app. Prime Video however is almost always available natively so this is a good way to access CR without the use of a third party device.

The main advantage is you can view all your subscriptions on one page and cancel any of them with minimal effort, so you won't end up subscribed to Peacock for a five months before you remember you meant to cancel it.
Also, if you wait until Black Friday or Prime Day, you can get some great deals. It wouldn't surprise me to see Crunchyroll listed as $.99 for three months this year, and it's not unheard of for them to offer a full year for $12.

Hmm.
So... I have a CR membership already. And I have a Prime membership already. Is this a separate service to both of those? Would I effectively have to pay for CR a second time to watch it through Prime, and get the offline viewing and other benefits? 'Coz that's sure what it sounds like.
Gonna need to do some more digging on this, I believe.

These Prime video channels are basically add-ons for the basic Prime Video subscription that deliver extra content from other providers; I believe there are mirrors for Paramount+ and HBO and so on. I wouldn't bother getting a CR channel subscription if you already have a CR membership unless you're really into the idea of a one-stop streaming app like other posters have suggested. It's basically the same content for (nearly?) the same price paid again.
I have a Hidive channel subscription because that's as close as they'll be getting to a Playstation app for the forseeable future and that lets me do all my streaming through one device. It seems to be pretty current on simulcasts, and that's a big draw at the moment. However, a lot of series are missing the first episode or have randomly unavailable episodes, so it's not quite ideal.
I've also been considering the Retrocrush channel, but that also has missing episodes and poor browsing, along with much of the content being available through other services, including Crunchyroll. One of the few series I haven't seen elsewhere is missing an episode and doesn't turn up when scrolling through the main channel page at Amazon.

As others have said, it can be a convenient way to have all your subscriptions in one place; one app. One other thing that no one has mentioned is that compared to CR, Prime Video has profiles. My roommate wanted to use my CR subscription, and I said no because my whole profile would be wonky. With Prime Video, I assume you can have the CR channel, and then use it on more than one profile.

From my experience with AMC+, getting the prime channel treats it as a whole new account, and I used the same email when I cancelled AMC+ (from the site) and subscribed to the Prime Video channel. Even got the free trial.

If you prefer dubs or subs in a different language, then getting the app connected to your Amazon Prime account is not the way to go. I rarely see Spanish subtitle options on Amazon content, let alone any of the add-on apps.

The main appeal, of course, is having all the anime in one place. With Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, and RetroCrush the average person is more than set.
The problem is that these libraries don't exactly match what's on their independent streaming services. I noticed on Prime that several series such as Haganai had their first three episodes unavailable for some reason. Not sure if that's a glitch or not - meanwhile several series that are on RetroCrush's service such as Rose of Versailles and Sherlock Hound are unavailable through the Prime channel because Amazon wants you to watch them on their ad-supported Freevee service instead.

Honestly couldn't care less. What concerns me and should concern all of you as well is the sheer number of shows being given the Netflix treatment and being held hostage digitally. Due to this god Awful practice many series will never see the light of day. Hybrid Heart, Kuroko's Basketball, Eighty Six (most likely) and the list goes on.

Hybrid x Heart... That was the show that Funimation announced a blu-ray of and cancelled at the last minute, right?
