Best thing I can say about these guys is that their group name fits like a glove.

I've been watching Gigguk since he started, which depressingly was a very long time ago. Though I wouldn't be interested in watching them live, at the end of the day they are just a bunch of fans talking about Anime, why would I pay to see that.

These guys are why I am who I am today. Love them to death. Wish they would have come to Houston when they did the US tour. Although I'd probably have a heart attack if I met them, lol. True legends.

Small correction: it's Garnt, not Grant as you have it in the introductory paragraph... unless that was intentional to play on how everyone mistakes it for "Grant"

I left them on as background noise while doing other things, often, and would often pay more attention when they'd have Chris Broad as a guest. I don't really get wanting to watch them talk on a stage, either, but I guess it's the same as any other celebrity event? Just a kind of power of stardom; I suppose I also don't really have much interest in meeting most actors or anything either.

I've only watched some of Gigguk's and parts of the Trash videos, & while I have no particular issue with any of them personally... yeah, not really my thing.
I think I stopped watching Gigguk once he started making clickbait videos whenever a seasonal controversy-stoking show would appear around 2016-19-ish, & while I appreciate there's a lot less of that these days, honestly I don't really dig the TT angle.
If anime has become mainstream then they're definitely the non-corpo face of it in the west, & while I can't fault that, the emphasis is on them rather than the medium. They promoting themselves as a brand; which hey, if you can- why not.
Still, I can't help but feel a little frustrated that there are so many talented anime youtubers doing great editorial pieces about a variety of topics, or doing deep-dives on the industry/production side of things, and getting mere thousands, if not hundreds of clicks, while these guys often rack up millions doing fairly shallow features, wacky 'big in Japan' streamer nonsense and generally just chatting away about vague nerd stuff. They occasional do put out pretty cool content, like their recent interview with Yoshihiro Watanabe, but for the most part (without trying to be mean) they just aren't really as knowledgeable or insightful about the field they supposedly build their social presence out of.
I mean if you just like them as personalities, go for it, but if I want to listen to people talk about anime, someone put Jonathan Clements or Justin Sevakis on a stage over here. One of the two might even appreciate you for it.

I'm not a fan of these guys, but I don't see the issue with people preferring to watch a fun interview with the creator of a popular series or visiting a maid cafe or some other kind of popular tourist spot in Japan over a 10 hour long video essay about a 6 episode OVA series from 1994 not many people have ever heard of. People watch content that is entertaining to them and catches their eye. And chances are people would prefer to hang out with the former than the later.

Gigguk, Cdawg, and TheAnimeMan are basically the 3 most popular English Anime YouTubers. They're also brand ambassadors at this point with being sponsored by Kadokawa and other companies all the time.

I know all of them but I am not really a fan. Individually the content they make is ok but Trash Taste is just 3 guys talking about trash, nothing more. I rather watch new episodes of seasonal animes.
