I mean, given they work at MgRonalds I'd argue it's one a lot of people would see coming and makes complete sense.

They made a mistake. Maou works at MgRonald’s, not McDonald’s.

I’m reminded of how Stein’s Gate used “IBN” computers only to be featured in actual IBM ads.
This is front and center as part of an ad campaign for Season 2 of Loki. You even see Sadao in the order kiosks apparently.

Yeah, but there's a bunch of these food and product promotions in Japan. That this appears on American TV pretty incredible. Nothing else comes to mind aside from when fast food is promoting a movie or whatever like Pokemon.

The Pizza Hut references have all been removed from all home video and streaming releases for that reason.

Also, the infamous movie Mac and Me where the crew go to the craziest McDonalds in the country.

Which always baffled me from PH's pov. Why wouldn't they want free product placement to a niche market? If there's some trademark rules (I know if you don't protect your tm you can lose it), just pay them a dollar usage fee or something. Even if the distributor was the one paying PH, it'd be cheaper than editing it. (who pays who has also confused me. Businesses pay movies and tv and sports teams for product placement, but sometimes the media/team has to pay the business to be allowed to use their logos, and I've never understood what determines which way the payment goes)
Anyway, the ad was great fun. Kudos to McD's marketing people.

Since when was this free? Pizza Hut literally paid for that product placement. They probably didn't pay enough for it to make its way to the Blu Ray editions, where the artists are already going over everything again to make sure that there are as few mistakes and shortcuts as possible, so it's not that hard to just change a few labels when you're already editing it because you didn't give a background character a mouth.

Like the day before this article was posted, I was randomly scrolling on Twitter when I saw Maou talking in a promoted video. I was like "WTF did I just see? Why was Maou in a McDonald's (?) commercial?". It was late at night, but it was apparently real. I saw when this article was posted, just forgot to post. With that said.... Royale with chee!
