Really wish this show would get some kind of resolution. It was a great ride but that ending is very frustrating.

Great news! Always considered this series to be tragically unfinished.

Hmm, looks to have been another victim of the Japanese animation industry's PC culture.. |

Stars Align was such a fantastic show, the production committee really did it dirty. The absolute cruelty of letting a team work on a show for two years, thinking the entire time they had 24 episodes to tell their story, and then telling them at the last possible moment, when a ton of animation was already done, that the episode count would be cut in half. Just ugly.
We still don't know why this was done, though I wouldn't be surprised if the show's very frank and intelligent LGBT themes offended someone on the production committee and they had the show cut short as a result. It's hard to say if this is an unusual situation, though, because anime creators usually keep quiet about stuff like this. Kazuki Akane is an industry legend, he's been working in anime since the classic Gundam days, so he can afford to be candid; at this point his legacy is secure no matter what. Most anime directors don't have that luxury, so I have to wonder how many have been screwed over in a similar manner and just never spoke out for fear of what would happen to their careers. |

Ooh, I'd be cool with that! It's a shame this show never got any real resolution, and the PC really did it dirty. It wouldn't be perfect, but hey, anything's better than nothing at all, especially since some fan fic writers do the same thing when they're unable to finish a fic for various reasons.

what's with the random comments about "PC culture" on this thread? One even quoting something not even in this article. I'm so confused. The Sakuga Blog quote doesn't even say anything that suggests "PC culture". Just seems like a random attack on "PC"-ness.
I really wish he could've done a kickstarter or something. I don't know if it would succeed but it might've been better than asking the current industry |

I just shortened Production Committee to PC for the sake of brevity. |

It would be nice to see any sort of resolution for this series, so I would appreciate this for sure.

i thought it was because the pre order numbers were so low they cancelled them, or were they just delayed. Either way it was a financial flop basically which is probably the main reason it got axed. Its just not the kind of story that sells |

I wish him the best of luck in releasing the rest of the series.

Fingers crossed!! This show deserved better, such a shame it got cut off, but I'm so glad the director knows people want it.

I was referring to Production Committee culture.. But if we're talking about PC as in "Political Correctness" then I guess I would say.. The same.. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that the show didn't particularly align with the general political climate within the Japanese animation industry.. Something I would say was tacitly understood by fans.. Leading some to belief that the show was cut short because of its openly queer themes.. |
