TLDR; Some creative thinkers just simply have a curse of not completing things or being business savy.
I think it is mostly due to being "high in openness" and "high in unconscious." Can be a bad personality combo in getting art done. You are constantly in a state of taking things in, but not having a strict enough schedule to get things done. But the art they DO get done, turns out amazing! Another point to be added, these people are usually perfectionist on top of it.
I also believe this is why Hideo Kojima had such a bad break from Konomai. More than likely he was taking to long developing the very last game, and board of directors/upper management/investors didn't appreciate it. On top of it, Hideo wanted to move on from MGS and Konomai wants to milk every IP they can, and move away from high budget video games to go low budget.
Which I don't fault them, they are a business. Business savy people dont mind stamping out anything that is in their way, for the sake of profit (which is way you need other forces to balance that out). Artist are the opposite, which is why so many of them have a hard time monetizing their art. A great example of it going wrong, is some kickstarter projects that never took off or got funded successfully but the final product was terrible, or not even released.
On the flip side, when everything goes according to plan for a artist, you get things like Death Stranding. Which gets enough profit and positive reviews, for the artist to green light their next project. Or you get visionary innovators like Steve Jobs, who can be both artistic and business savy at the same time (heck, he was tech savy too). Yet I believe Steve Jobs was very high in consciousness.
Anyways, CLAMP was one of my favorite group of female mangaka (tbh, I think they are the only ones I've ever known). I've pretty much given up they will finish their older works. I can only treasure the ones, they have finished, like Angelica Layer and Chobits.
