There's a typo on the title. It's 'Kazuma Kamachi' not 'Kazama Kamachi.'
On the other hand, I like the ITEM group. But I still think it's insane how he still manages to come up with all these stories.

Frenda! Nilitsu hit all the right points for Shizuri and Rikou design. Still too bad Shizuri is batshit crazy.
Who is that girl all the way in the background?

Thankfully, it's directly written from Kamachi and his LN Editors at Straight Edge rather than through a manga, so it'll have his style (Although, Nogi makes sure it's as close as possible with Mental Out, too.) I'm looking forward to it alongside the next Genesis Testament volume.
Long live Toaru Series.

When and how does this guy sleep with all of these titles that he has authored over the years?

yeah, makes me wonder if he is not another Hwan mi ri, who has been suspected to be a collective under the same pen name, rather than a single person.

I'm down for more ITEM!
Frenda's in it so it's definitely set earlier in the timeline. I wonder if Hamazura will show up.

Yeah, I'd really like a magic side spin-off. Many characters you can cover and lore to expand on. I hope one is announced with the 20th anniversary next year.

It is all this side content that makes later seasons of index and railgun utterly baffling to anime only watchers. So many conspiracies and secret organisations on top of other secret organisations and overlapping ancient/modern wonders.

All of this "side content" has nothing to do with later seasons of Index or Railgun. At the time that Index's content was being written, the most we had was the first arc or so of Railgun's manga. As of the most recent canon arc in Railgun's anime, the only other story taking place at that point in continuity is Season 2 of Index. The stories aren't crossing over much at all, characters you meet just have lives and stories that are explored more in other, optional side content.
This series, for example, seems to be taking place way back in S2 of Index, if not S1. It's not likely to affect anything in the current continuity of the series, it's just fleshing out a supporting cast, just like Railgun, Accelerator, and Astral Buddy did (neither of them are caught up to the end of the third season of Index, either).

Well Season 2 of Index
and you should be aware of Accelerator since Scavenger makes a plot relevant appearance
and for the full context of Indian Poker you need to read the Junko Spin-off
I honestly can't help but agree with the poster you're replying to. The sheer amount of new characters every volume (anywhere from 4-20+) rapidly made Index unwieldy and hard to follow leading to me dropping it near the end of the original (Pre-New Testament) novels

Yes, but that's my point. That's Index. It isn't the side stories making it unwieldy, it's just Index itself. The vast majority of those characters are introduced in the mainline book and then had stories written about them 5+ years later as spin-offs, not the other way around. Blaming the side stories - most of which didn't even exist until after the content was written - for the latest seasons of Index and Railgun is just incorrect. The only context that's really missing from the current adaptations is the untranslated Liberal Arts City LN for Railgun's Daihasei Festival.
It's just bad adaptation to blame. In the case of Index, the production committee pushed them to rush through the WW3 Arc, which meant cutting a lot of exposition and character moments, so that they could start adapting the newer novels faster (nevermind the fact that releasing a new season five years ago would've sped that up...). And with Railgun, the anime's team is so interested in doing Cute Girls Doing Cute Things that they seem to actively avoid developing the stories that the manga tells.

Well I apologise for being wrong, but it certainly felt like a whole bunch of side characters from side stories all turning up and referencing things I did not understand.
