I’m having to do paperwork for this system and it is f-ing HORRIBLE. Such a hassle and a needless tax on businesses already struggling in a pandemic. Plus as a foreigner I didn’t even get to voice my opposition to it at the ballot box

I've always been pro-Akamatsu, but what did all those 500k votes meant if he gives up so easily? How can we expect him to get results for the sake of freedom of expression and better salary for animators if he half-asses like this? The invoice issue was part of his campaign so there's no excuse. For seemingly awful shit like this, reducing damage is not enough.
Maybe I'm not getting the full picture but this is so disappointing.

If he was in the US Congress, he would be considered a rookie, and thus have no real voice in anything. His seniors probably told him to be a good boy. It is good to have ideals and dreams, but you also have to live in the real world, which is a crucible. You should give him the benefit of the doubt, and let his future history tell the true story.

I mean, his platform was that he would offer otaku a voice. He offered it. But he's still one guy in a sea of politicians. He's not going to move mountains or weave miracles. It's like expecting one random representative from one state ordering the President or Congress around.

What "ideals and dreams" have to do with this bill? It just needed to go back to drawing board to get rid of the life threatening stipulations in it.

Even if you voiced your opposition, it wouldn't realistically amount to anything. The cold harsh reality of politics is that if a certain policy works towards a majority economical benefit, why should representatives care what the minorities think, even if they do vote?

Typical politics at work... I don't blame Akamatsu really... the trend is that usually if you find it is impossible to stop the passage of a law, the next best thing to do is to reform it after the fact so that you can limit the damage.
