First off, a little nitpicky correction: the gang doesn't renovate a preexisting campsite-- they make a new one using a different outdoor facility which is no longer in use.

This was a cozy watch, though I'm not sure that the iyashikei formula really works in feature-length form. The shorter format of TV episodes works better for these sorts of stories. In the movie, though many scenes were just the right length, others went on just a touch too long (like the crab eating sequence), coming dangerously close to wearing out their welcome.

It was wonderful seeing Shimarin, Nadeshiko, and the rest of the girls grown up and living normal adult lives. It made me wish for more anime about regular adults, plus the careers that each of them took on are so fitting for them. Old Chikuwa was a treat, as were the various cameos and the many callbacks to the original series. Plus, it was a little weird (but cool) seeing the gang in short sleeves at times!

Although said original series, both manga and anime, is a touch better, this movie is a must-watch for all fans of Yurucamp.

These are basically my thoughts on it. I enjoyed it and it was really cool seeing everyone aged up, but it was missing a little something for me that the Manga has. And I think it was the pacing. Not as in the scene to scene pacing of the movie which I think was fine, but the fact that the two hour movie takes place over almost an entire year, while in the manga and anime the ENTIRE series so far has only had a few months pass.

It might seem like a nit pick, but to me that very focused day by day approach and intense awareness of time (and seeing characters change within even that short time i.e. everyone getting jobs or Rin group camping more) made the manga feel a bit more comfy somehow.

Still loved the movie for what it is, but it doesn't quite have the same feel to me.
