A guy in a yuri anime? That's surprising.

He's the main character's younger brother and let's just say that he has a really important role in the plot, especially in Volume 2.

EDIT: I think the correct romanization for the opening theme is actually 'Arc-en-Ciel' because that is the name of Euphyllia's sword.

there was just one rule for a guy in a Yuri work, thankfully, more modern works have devised a second role.

that reminds me of a reaction to a chapter of of lazy yuri brothel "what! you are straight!?"

There's more action in this than I expected. But still pretty Yuri!

Very appealing character designs and surprisingly sharp-looking action. This one will be on my Highly Anticipated list.

No, it's not? Lots of yuri series have male side characters.

It's probably closer to 50/50 than 100% or 0%. The "404: Men Not Found" tag on Dynasty Scans isn't only a funny meme but is also fairly accurate for a significant chunk of stories. In many Yuri stories, it's all women and the rate of lesbians in the main 10 characters is often like 80%.

Anyway, this particular story has a fully realized world and there are several other minor male characters, some good and some bad, like you would expect.

Just like almost all Yuri anime, though, this first season will end before the part where there is any actual romance, and the viewership will be too low to justify a second season. That's the brutal truth and why I have stopped holding out hope for WLW romance in anime. It can only ever occur for side couples in other popular series (actually there have some decent OVAs too).

Is this really a yuri anime? Why is there a guy in the poster and why is he much more noticeable than the girls? Is he a very important character? A lot of people is going to mistake this """""""""""yuri""""""""""""" anime as a harem anime. Yuri is supposed to be about girls loving girls. This yuri anime is like it wants pander to the Little Witch Academia/Hibike Euphonium/Lycoris Recoil/Uma Musume audience. Baiting yuri fans with plenty of yuribait and those fans will be trolled by het shippers and the anime's self-insert guy who's heavily favored by the staff.

This cheap plastic blonde boy looks bland and boring too. He looks like he's going to be a love interest eventually and maybe even be the harem lead. He's there because the "yuri" author believes that a real yuri series can't make money without males. This series is an insult to yuri. It's trying to force an "important male character in yuri" BS to be a new standard for future yuri anime. Like it's going to help it sell. It will be sick and disgusting if this anime actually sells. Good thing there isn't much hype for this and it's gonna flop and be forgotten next season.

Not that your increasingly deranged posting - which you keep making burner accounts for - isn't incredibly amusing, but FTR the guy on the poster is the main character's brother and the guy who dumps the other lead, prompting his sister to hire her on as an assistant. He is literally the inciting incident that brings the two girls together Laughing

Lycoris Recoil's ending really broke some people.... Who knows what'll happen if Witch from Mercury goes for the Suletta + Elan ending.

I know I shouldn't engage with such high levels of preemptive negativity, but this line of reasoning is wrong right from the start. The one guy is in the background, facing almost backwards, unlike everyone else in the image. Compare to, for example, the poster for Muv-Luv Alternative, where the one guy is front and center, looking directly at you.

And, of course, it's based on a LN, so we already know what the story is. Can't say how far they'll get into it, but it's not a "fake" yuri. And why are we dragging Mercury into this doomposting? Did we already forget how far it pushed the envelope in just episode 1? Or the countless Utena references?

Anyway... I'm mostly just glad it's in January instead of next fall season or something. Always good to have some non-standard non-male isekai.
